can we lock synergy, sunnydoo and JeffH in a room together and see who survives?

If we do a good job making it airtight, we'll know real quickly.

You cant kill evil.

yet we keep trying

Not so much. I'm far too apathetic to bother with it... but I do delight in the opportunity to make acerbic comments.

Get rid of D.Lee, Zambrano, Ramirez, Soriano and any other veterans for top prospects and just rebuild. There is really no point to the season anymore. Get deals while we still can. Soriano = the worst signing in Cubs history, D.Lee = worthless in clutch situations, I would take Prince Fielder over this guy, Zambrano = headcase, overrated, and Ramirez = non-clutch stat padder.

I'm all for a fire sale, but if you trade all of those guys (the only one I can understand is Zambrano), then you're guaranteed of not winning anything for at least the next 10 years.

We're guaranteed to never win anything forever with our current method of doing business.

I'll wait til this club is sold. Screw this noise for now, I've got plenty of things to keep me occupied this Summer.

Everyone better get out to their local church and pray for a decent owner this time. I don't care if you're atheist, get your butt to that damn church and pray! 8-)

Since we don't have any "Top" prospects outside of Pie, maybe we could rebuild with the following animal's that have opposable thumbs

Bornean Orangutan -

Chimpanzees

Cebids

Koala -

Opossum -

Giant Panda -

Troodon

Raccoon -

Do Opossum's really have opposable thumbs?

Yes...on their rear feet. Something else huh?

Look out for the Giant Panda, he has some major power.

The Cubs are desperately in need of a fire sale. I just think the original poster in this thread wants to fire too many players.

This team needs some continuity. If a player is under your control long term and not a disaster, you keep them. With that in mind, we're either keeping and/or stuck with the following guys.

Aramis Ramirez - long term contract he'll live up to

Derrek Lee - long term contract he'll live up to

Alfonso Soriano - long term contract we're stuck with

Mark DeRosa - long term contract that we're likely stuck with, and his production is perfectly acceptable for a second basemen.

Ted Lilly - long term deal he may live up to

Jason Marquis - long term deal he may live up to

Rich Hill - under our control long term

Angel Guzman - under our control long term

Michael Wuertz - under our control long term

Sean Marshall - under our control long term

And those are really the only chips I choose to hold onto ahead of time. The rest are trade bait. Barrett for something. Cesar for whatever. Jones for whatever. Dempster for something better hopefully. Eyre for nothing. Miller for nothing. Floyd for a little better than nothing. Ward for something. Ohman, Cotts, Theriot, Murton, etc. moved in a deal that gives us organizational improvement.

Which leaves us with Z. He either has to commit longterm to us now, or be traded. This season is a disaster. We don't control him next. What sane person would choose to stay here if '07 finishes up like '06? Deal him for the best package you can.

Am I the only one who isn't ready to call the season over?

Unless our bullpen suddenly becomes average and our offense consistent we are in trouble...After two months of this a trend is settling in.

Lee with 2 outs runners on .310 avg .412 obp

Lee with man on 3rd less than 2 outs .444 avg .545 Obp

Lee with RISP .457 avg .528 Obp

That right there is enough to show how ignorant your post is.

Yeah, like it took the Marlins 10 years to win another World Series.

And the Cubs are looking to add a zero to the end of that figure. I'd settle for a World Series title over the next 10 years.

I agree it's too early to give up on account of the NL Central being just plain terrible. The Cubs would be in a deep hole in any other division but they're very much alive in the NLC.

I agree. Its not like we have to be much better than .500 to take the division. Then you just hope you can get hot at the right time. A couple of small trades could probably help things. If nothing else let the firesale occur after Hendry is gone.

I've been overly optimistic all season. I really do think they can take it but this team also looks like its quit.

And they say I'm prone to hyperbole...

Glad to see you have a sense of humor about it. Good for you.

Wish I had a sense of humor about how the Cubs are playing.

I wasn't aware laughing about how bad they're doing and talking about fake rallies qualified as sky falling.

Moderators, when does this constitute a personal attack?

I was kinda wondering the same thing myself. Not knowing the situation, or other personal feelings, I've been slapped for less on more than one occasion.

Watch out boys! I know karate! HAAAYYYAAAAA!

OK, I'll shutup now.
