I had to shake up my team. I hope it works. Two new starters, one reliever, Thomas is dropped and Reynolds is called up. I need Mauer to return to form ASAP.

I need Mauer not to return to form ASAP. I've been red hot lately. But that worries me. My pitching has been overachieving for the most part all year. However, I have 2 starts from Johan this week, who to me, hasn't begun to dominate yet.

It sucks to be tied for 1st with the only 2 teams to beat me this year. I gotta win against both the 2nd time around or find a way to win the division by a full game. I'd love to have back that 4 point loss to HBC.

It's yours as long as I can have back my 6.4 point loss to you in week 1. :D

Ryan Freel carried off on a stretcher with an apparent neck injury. I hope he's okay.

I've replayed the injury many times. Hopper and Freel nearly collided as Freel hit the warning track dirt hard.

The reason I replayed the play over and over is because I couldn't believe I saw what I saw. Freel and Hopper both crashed hard. Freel wasn't moving. Hopper went over to Freel and blocked the umpires view while he put the ball into Free's glove. What should have been an inside the park home run was recorded as an out.

Freel made the catch, but on the crash landing the ball came loose from his glove. Even in a moment of crisis a guy has time to cheat. Unbelievable.

Wouldn't the Dave Martinez rule apply though? That is, the fielder has to take the ball out of his own glove to record the out? Think 1989 stretch for the Cubs if you don't remember.

Freel couldn't take the ball out of his glove. He was laying there motionless with what appeared to be a neck injury.

The ball came loose, Hopper put it back in his glove while no one was looking. When the umpire came over, the ball was nestled in Freel's glove right where Hopper put it.

the rule used to be the fielder had to give the ball to a teammate on their own or it wasn't a catch. in 1989 Martinez made a diving catch for the Expos and separated his shoulder on the play. his teammate took the ball out of his glove and it was ruled no catch.

hopefully freel is ok.

This doesn't apply to the Martinez deal. The ball was loose, Hopper tucked it into Freel's glove. Freel laid there motionless. The umpire saw the ball in Freel's glove while he lay there motionless. The umpire called the guy out based on the fact he could clearly see the ball nestled in Freel's glove.

But, what the umpire didn't see was that Hopper took a ball that was NOT in the glove but laying on the field of play and tucked it into Freel's glove.

I kind of compare it to when Moises Alou tried to kick a ball and hide it in the ivy in hopes of a ground rule double.

It's cheating.

Judging by the first day's results, my shake-up did little good.

not only do they suck, but the last two days they get it together just long enough to put together a bs fake rally so tim's closer can get two saves. if you're going to suck for 8 1/3 innings, just suck for 9, you bunch of losers.

you know what would have been a good way to consistently regulate when and how much he threw? by leaving him in the rotation. not that i'm bitter.

crap, i sure wish i knew yesterday that smoltz was going to get hurt today...i could have started gaudin to make up for the start i may lose from smoltz on sunday. may have to go to the serge tomorrow night against the cubs, who will surely break out by putting up 11 runs against him.
