What a joke by West to not ask for help.

And now he tosses Floyd, disgraceful.

Floyd went around, West didn't need to ask for help.

And why is it disgraceful that he tossed Floyd?

He followed Floyd back to the dugout, then tossed him.

Floyd was complaining and yelling the whole time and probably had some choice words for West. And West didn't follow him all the way back to the dugout.

West made the right call. Floyd complained. Floyd got tossed. Plain and simple.

Which game are you watching? He followed him back to the dugout. Plain and simple.

I agree, the ump was the aggressor. All Cliff wanted was for him to ask for help on the call.

Like I said: West made the right call, Floyd complained, Floyd got tossed. It's not rocket science. He followed him part way because Floyd was complaining. Floyd had no business arguing that call.

we all know how you feel. most of us disagree, lets just drop it.

So Pat & Ron said that Soriano couldn't be bothered to run that out?

It looked like he thought the Sox were going to get the force out at 2nd but they didn't and the throw to first beat Soriano there.

Good excuse!

If a player is walking away as he is complaining, the ump is supposed to just let him go. An umpire is supposed to try to defuse a confrontation, not make it worse by following him.

Of course he did, West didn't ask for help. Floyd was done saying his piece and then West ran him down and tossed him. Completely bush league by West, which is fitting because he was terrible today.

Macdougall got a win. THat says it all.

No he didn't, Masset did.

That also says it all.

Masset is going to be a good pitcher.

so long as he keeps starting against the cubs.

No explanation for bad outing by Cotts, Lou? WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT AJ caught COTTS FOR LIKE 2 YEARS!?!?!
Posted
Maybe I missed something, but Soriano didn't appear to be dogging it down to 1st. As for the rest of the game yeah he kinda sucked.

The ball was fielded in the outfield, flipped to SS, then thrown to 1B. Ward could have beat that throw with some hustle.

And that explains the guys who creamed the ball after AJ? Cotts didn't have anything today.

Why does West have to ask for help? I didn't know that was in the rule book. West thought he made the correct call - which he did - so why should he ask for help? And Floyd was complaining in the dugout too before West tossed him. Don't make Floyd out to be completely innocent here just because you have a vendetta against West.

Eh, whatever. The only shot I saw was Sori reaching for the bag on the last step. He must have been dogging it at some point that was lost in the camera shot. When you explain it like that, it makes more sense.

The Sox know him better than any team. Same exact thing happened when LaTroy Hawkins pitched for the Giants at Wrigley.

oh. and i thought the floyd check swing was really really close. it's not a rule you have to ask for help, but doesn't the third base ump have the best view? he asked for help earlier in the game.

Like I said: West made the right call, Floyd complained, Floyd got tossed. It's not rocket science. He followed him part way because Floyd was complaining. Floyd had no business arguing that call.

Of course he did, West didn't ask for help. Floyd was done saying his piece and then West ran him down and tossed him. Completely bush league by West, which is fitting because he was terrible today.

What bugs me about the ejection is what bugs me about some refs/umps/officials in general. There are some of these guys who think they are above the game. A good ump diffuses the situation West exculated it. He went after Floyd plain and simple.

Why does West have to ask for help? I didn't know that was in the rule book. West thought he made the correct call - which he did - so why should he ask for help? And Floyd was complaining in the dugout too before West tossed him. Don't make Floyd out to be completely innocent here just because you have a vendetta against West.

Didn't watch and I'm sure Floyd deserved to be tossed, but no ump has right to follow a player or manager as said player or manager walks away from the ump. That is considered looking for a confrontation.

Just because Floyd deserved to be tossed doesn't clear West of wrong-doing. (And seeing as I didn't see a second of this game and don't remember West from previous games, I obviously don't have a vendetta against him). I hate when umps do this, it's completely out of line.
