I still maintain my belief that Zambrano is our new closer.

Wow, I just came to post that.

With his first inning troubles? No.

I didn't say it was a good idea.

It sounds like Guzman was supposed to be the closer in the Dempster to 5th starter scenario:

Asked about the miscommunication, Dempster replied, "Just looking at our situation of not having somebody who's really had any experience closing … and also, when you ask a young guy to go down there, especially a young guy like Guzman to close, [you have] to see how his arm responds. It might be a week. It might be the rest of the year. Who knows?"

Marshall up per chicagosports.com

No word on who's going down. Hill is starting Tues.

Oh thank jeebus, throw the Dempster starting rumor out already.

Here was the tidbit.

The Cubs plan to call up Sean Marshall from Triple-A Iowa this week, meaning someone from the staff has to go. Piniella named Rich Hill as his starter on Tuesday in San Diego but would not reveal the rest of his rotation, which suggests Marshall will start either Wednesday or Thursday.

Is anyone afraid that our big announcement could be the return of Glendon Rusch?

That would be a solid move.

I bet there is nothing solid on Glendon these days

I think this whole thing is going to be like the Office episode where Michael Scott promises a big surprise, and then can't think of anything and all he can come up with is ice cream sandwiches.

Though I'd prefer Lou buy us all ice cream sandwiches to demoting Guzman.
