i remember hill hitting the winning home run in the bottom of the 8th off of franco and just dropping the bat like a toothpick.

Hill was an absolute monster. One of the weirdest Cub injury stories of all time (and there are many to choose from) was Glenallen on the 15-day DL due to an arachnophobia-related injury.

Probably the most amazing game I've ever been to both in how it went down and the significance of the game. That was the second biggest baseball attendance ever at the Coliseum (and largest regular season crowd) and the only time I've ever seen Mount Davis almost completely full.

Great game to watch, all 3 of my college roommates from the Bay went to the game. One of my roommates was actually on TV in the crowd where Hatteberg hit the HR.

The first Cubs game I ever attented that I was old enough to remember. I went to a few games when I was like 1 or 2, but those don't count. On the walk back to the car, people were offering me upwards of $80 for my Sammy Sosa bobblehead doll. :P

I didn't let my dad forget about that game (he's a Dodgers fan) as well as the series sweep for a while.

I was thinking that was still when he was with Toronto, but I'm not positive about that.

You're right - he was a Blue Jay at the time.

Somewhere on NSBB I bet there's a thread dedicated to weird Cub injuries ... I wonder what ppl would vote as the weirdest of all time.

A great game in a still hopeful 2004 that featured some notable things:

- Lee going 4 for 4 with 4 singles

- Prior struggling with his control and leaving after five innings

- A one-batter appearance by NSBB fave, Kent Mercker (he got Scott Hatteberg to pop out to end the 8th)

- 9th inning single to get the rally started by Todd Hollandsworth, notable Lemon

- Superman slide for the win by Todd Walker

Probably my favorite of all Cubs games I've attended.

is it sad that it didn't surprise me when I saw that even though they scored 20 runs that game, they also struck out 13 times as a team?
