Murton or Pie better start today.

Pie had best not be starting against a lefty, much less one who's good enough to reach the majors. Pie can't even handle minor league lefties.

why is he here than? Jock cant hit lefties, if Pie isnt going to start against lefties there is no reason to have Pie here to be a defensive sub and pinch runner.

Jacque can't hit lefties consistently but he has gotten some hits against LHP. I wouldn't start Pie against a ML lefty at this point.

I wouldn't start Jones against a high school lefty. He is pretty much the definition of futility vs. LHP, and has been for his entire career. Also, if the Cubs want to pump up Jacque's stats to increase his marketability then it would be highly advisable to have him face righties exclusively.

If Lou would rather start Jacque Jones vs. an LHP than give the start to Pie then it's crystal clear that Pie absolutely positively needs to go back to Iowa.

Pie definitely needs to go back to Iowa. Call up Angel Pagan if you want a late-game defensive replacement and pinch runner.

well, putting Pie in the lineup against lefties only is setting him up to fail, which is not something most major league managers like to do -- unless your name is dusty baker and you always manage to set up your entire team to fail -- so I would say...put Pie in against righties in CF or RF and just let Jones play everyday since we don't have a better option in center against lefties (unless lou is willing to put Murt out in center). or just send Pie down, which is probably the best thing to do at this point.

the party is definitely not in this thread tonight

Sorry, some of us realized we delayed eating until after the game last night, and didn't want to be stuck in the same position again.

Well, this is an interesting outing for Marquis. None of his typical ground balls through 2 innings, but 2 strikeouts and 3 popouts to go with the 1 fly ball.
