Theriot called for it. It's not Izturis' ball by default. That's the whole point of calling it. And if nobody called for it, it's whoever can catch it.

 

Cesar may very well have been calling for it, as well, but you can't assume he was.

 

Not to mention that it was a pop directly over short, whereas the 2B had an angle to the ball. If the 2B says he can get it, and you're the SS going back to try to make a tough play, you pull up and give the 2B the chance to make the catch.

It's a game thread. You are going to make errors. If you know what the user is saying, that's all that matters.
