In Today's Tribune, there was a mention of the Mets needing a 2B. How about sending Izturis to the Mets? I would assume we could get a prospect for him. Also, with their glut of injuries (especially in the OF), I would think the A's might be interested in Jones.

For whatever small value Izturis would have as a SS, he would have no value as a second baseman. I can't see this one happening.

Plus, it doesn't really help the team-as soon as Izturis leaves Cedeno comes up, which doesn't really help. Also, it would leave the organization incredibly thin on SS's-that would leave Theriot, Cedeno, and Fontenot left (and since Fontenot is worse than Theriot defensively at SS, I doubt the organization would want to bring him up at SS unless there was an absolute emergency). Now-if Izturis can be dumped on another team and then the Cubs acquire a starting SS at the same time-I would definitely support that, but I'm not sure of any SS's the team could realistically get at this point.

jones is exactly the type of player the A's don't want.

doesn't take pitches. terrible defender (though they've had less of a problem with this part in the OF lately).

Duh, you trade them Izzy and they shift Reyes back to second base.

I honestly thought you were about to say we trade them Izzy and they ship Reyes back to us.

What Jones are you talking about? Jacque Jones has been anything but impatient at the plate and poor defensively in 2007.

Currently he's sporting a .065 IsoD in 97 AB. 8-)

That's not true. There's a certain player that the A's don't want. It's called the overvalued player. Jones skillset may not be the greatest, but for what he does he may be below market value, which is exactly the kind of player they want. I'm sure they'd prefer Murton to Jones, but I'm sure they'd pick up Jones if the Cubs would help pick up the tab.

Completely agree, just look at guys like Stewart and Payton.

Thank you. Of course you could write this 1000 times and people would still believe that the A's would never want a free-swinging player.
