Im starting Angel Guzman and Tim Lincecum in a fantasy league tomorrow. Im down pretty far in ERA and WHIP so I was like oh what the hell why not

At least your 2nd pick in the draft wasn't Chris Carpenter.

Guzman has all of the tools to get the job done. I just hope he can put it together and make Miller a part of the Cubs past.

Well then freaking play Pie every damn day. Him sitting on the bench is doing him no good he needs at bats, not coming in as a pinch runner or defensive replacement. This is a dumb move if they continue to play Pie sporadicly. Pie is the better prospect than Ronny, so let the kid play somewhere, be it here or AAA.

While the club made no official announcement, Cedeno was seen packing his bags after Saturday's loss. He was hitting .097 and said he didn't want to talk about his demotion.

I think this was the right move.

Its bad enough that Cedeno's getting demoted. They didn't have to turn a 5-3 Cubs victory into a loss for the poor guy as well.

I want to see him play, too. But since the Cubs have other worthy options in the OF, its a tough one.

Jones isn't really a CFer. Pie is the only true CFer of the 5 options. Murton, Floyd and Jones are all performing well and fairly well proven at the major league level, so I think we are likely to continue to see Pie being worked in as part of a rotation until Hendry is able to trade one of the other OFers, likelky Jones.

I like the move. I've been calling for Cedeno to be the move this whole time. With Theroit, Derosa, and Izzy can all play the middle infeild. So for as of now, unless one has an injury, you have enough guys sharing the 2 spots. And now that Theroit has gotten some practice. You now have 2 guys who can play SS.

This was the best move as far as getting as many Cubs victories as soon as possible. Because Jones is playing too good to trade him right now. As long as Pie can get about 2-3 starts in CF each week, I am happy. Ease him in while Jones is ripping the ball a new one. You've gotta take advantage of Jones hot streak at the same time trying to see if Pie can improve his #'s.

Good call Cubs. For now.

I understand they have too many options for the OF thats why I was behind sending Pie down to get him at bats every day. I dont like him sitting on the bench 4 days a week. So now we have Izturis(haha) and Theriot who can play short .

They showed Ronny packing up his locker on Sportsnite on CSN. No matter how he played, that can't be fun.

Ya and he declined comment to the media. Hopefully he goes down and works on somethings and comes back to take Izturis's spot when he is traded for a hot dog.

They don't have too many options in the OF. They have 5 good, worthy-of-playing-time options, but because only one of them, Pie, is a true CFer, you can't accurately say that they have too many.

That's the whole reason why Cedeno was sent down and Pie wasn't. Pie is the team's only real CF, while Cedeno, with the emergence of Theriot as an option at SS, was the third infielder who could play in the hole. Pie is also hitting better than Cedeno is right now, so the choice was clear.

He might not be starting every day consistently, but he certainly wouldn't be the first top prospect rookie to be worked into the major leagues at a slightly slower pace than a full on starter. So long as he is in the rotation on a consistent basis, he should be fine.

I may be the only one here, but I really had high hopes for Cedeno. I hate to see him struggle the way he has.

Hopefully, he'll work hard to get himself on track down in the minors. I'd like to see him have some success.

As far as Pie, I think he's shown that he'll be fine at this level. He looks very natural in CF. I think he's hands down the best defensive OF on the team. His offense will come around. He seems to be a very streaky hitter at all levels. I'm VERY excited to be able to watch him in Chicago.

Make it a Polish with the right trimmings and you've got a deal.

Try 9 at-bats this week (dating back to last Sunday).

so 9 abs in 5 games?

Pie has had 1 start since hitting the homerun last Friday. Other than that he has had no more than 2 ab's in a game. He should be down at AAA getting 4 ab's a game if they arent going to give him it here. I hate the way Lou has used Pie and Murton. Hes giving them sporadic at bats off the bench, which in turn has probably made them both press. Young kids need ab's, and especially Pie who has not had a substantial amount of ab's in the minors.

do you want to win or develop young players? Both Jones and Floyd are performing well. You seriously want to take them out and put Pie and Murton every day? Murton and his every game double-play? And Pie who's lost at teh plate? Do you not see we're on a great winning streak? Or do you prefer losses?

Yeesh, 9 ABs in 5 games? Send Pie down to AAA and let him get his much-needed ABs.

While I've been calling for Cedeno to be sent down for a while now, I'd rather have Pie/Murton playing every day in AAA and Cedeno rotting on the bench in MLB instead of the other way around.
