Pray for rain in NY or Bos, wherever the heck they are playing. Im equally screwed down here in FL they are showing NY/Bos game. *sigh* I guess I get to listen to the accursed Cardinals broadcasters on XM.

Nah, they would probably just talk about how great the rivalry between the Sox and Yankees is.

CUBS' hitters during the last 14 games......

04/13 - 04/27 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS

Theriot 51 8 19 2 0 0 21 5 0 7 0.373 0.373 0.412 0.784

Am I the only one who is starting to get a little worried about that statistic? There's no doubt he is hitting the ball....but a 373 batting average isn't realistic for the rest of the year, and it would be nice to see someone like Theriot, known in the past for taking pitches/working the count, to take some walks. 2 walks compared to 60 at-bats has led to a nice 317 batting average, but only a 339 OBP, compared to last year where he put up 328/412.

Then again....maybe that's just the pessimistic Cubs fan in me...

His P/PA isn't great either. I guess we'll see how it all levels out with more regular playing time.

He's been jumping on the first pitch a lot, and it's been working (.364 average on the 1st pitch) but yeah, he's been a little too aggressive in some at-bats. Overall, though, I don't think it's too much to worry about.

i prefer to think that maybe his is just riding out this hot streak in regards to jumping on the first pitch. I'm sure he will start taking more pitches and working the count if he continues to hit in the 2 hole. He'll do whatever it takes to keep starting I am sure.

No Pie, Murton, or Barrett

argh

Blanco handles Z well, so I'm ok with that. But Pie goes yard, starting to come together offensively and he's benched? Come on.

Blanco has caught Z's only two decent starts and Barrett has started the previous three games. I have no problem with Blanco being in the line-up today.

Pie had started three in a row, there's nothing wrong with giving him a day off. I didn't hear people clammoring that Floyd had "been benched" after having a four hit game on Wednesday.

It's a day after a night game too, I'm just preparing for the offensive futility. At least I'll be at work and not able to see the game.

to be fair, wainwright has a reputation for really struggling against lefties. In his career he has a 861 OPS against v. lefties (172 PA). I would like to see Murton in there, but if there is a game that he's not starting, this makes sense.

That's OK. I have Extra Innings and I can't see the game either. Stupid Fox.

can I just repeat how much I hate the blackout rules for MLB?

I'm in washington freakin' DC and am blacked out for the cubs/cards game on MLB TV AND EI?
