The team doesn't even have 12 pitchers up. They do need 7 relievers if the game goes into extra innings. Besides, Marquis is just as good as many pinch-hitters on the benches of many teams anyway.

It happens every time. Anytime someone hits a fly ball 3/4 of the crowd jumps up in excitement. It happened over and over yesterday.

Have you guys ever sat behind home plate at Wrigley? The angles are pretty weird. It's hard to tell how well a ball is hit - harder than it is from the same vantage point at other parks.

 

Of course, most of the people that can afford those seats are on their Blackberries for most of the game and jump up out of reflex when they hear the crack of the bat.
