Matsuzaka is starting tonight for the Sox and has already given up 2 runs in the top of the 1st. He tried to come inside on ARod and ended up hitting him.

Miguel Cabrera also had a huge home run earlier today for the Marlins that went into the upper deck down the left field line. I believe they said it was 476 feet on Baseball Tonight.

Can both teams please lose?

That would be nice, wouldn't it? I'd prefer that the Red Sox win though because I need Dice-K to have a good game for my fantasy team. I like what he's doing tonight though, he's already hit both ARod and Jeter.

after striking out abreu twice and getting the shaft

seriously, what is the deal with the espn pitch track or whatever they call it? the pitcher can throw one that paints the corner perfectly, and when they show it on pitch track it misses the zone by a foot. I'm convinced that thing is bogus.

I've got ARod on one of my fantasy teams so I'm hoping he keeps up the home run frenzy tonight.

Red Sox go back to back to back to tie the game at 3. And then hit their 4th in a row to take the lead. Edited by E.J.

I don't even know what to say. I'm in shock after watching that. How come the Cubs never doing anything like that?

or win games for that matter?

Did anybody else hear Joe Morgan say "I don't think I've seen four home runs in a row before" shortly after Varitek's HR? Just more proof that Joe only watches the games he announces.

CUBS haven't hit 4 home runs in the same game since Mon 18 Sept 2006.

Lowell's 3-run shot gives the Red Sox a 7-5 lead. I have a feeling they won't give that one back. I'm getting jealous, watching all this non-cubs baseball.

Did I hear Rivera is unavailable?

They mentioned it last night as well, that his use was making him likely unavailable for either today or tomorrow. Maybe they are/were planning on saving him for the Sunday game.

Anybody got a good reason to bring Pettite into this game?

Today was Pettitte's throw day, and the typical side session is about 50 pitches at 90-95% intensity.

Pettitte only threw 14 pitches, so unless he threw a lot of warmup pitches, it was a smart way to use him.

It's the second time Pettitte has been used in relief in between starts this year. In Colorado, Josh Fogg has been used the same way.

Personally, I'm all for it.

And the Red Sox get out the brooms for the Yankees. The most exciting part about this news is, of course, that the series is over.

I know it's perfectly safe to pitch him today. But I don't think it's worth it to throw him out there against one of the best hitters in the game to try and beat the Red Sox in April, especially when you consider the injuries in their rotation.

Ok, this my last anti-Red Sox/Yankees post.

Honestly, I love the Red Sox/Yankees series', it's just the media hype that I hate.
