just wander back to the bag and pretend like you touched it. why admit you didn't touch it by trying to get out of the way.

it was obvious the first base ump didn't see him miss the bag, maybe the homeplate ump missed it too.

Crappy baserunning by DeRosa. I don't even think he touched first anyway.

I don't think he did either.

Yeah, FSN Midwest showed that he wasn't even close to 1st.

explanation for those of us outside chicago please

DeRosa grounded the Rolen at third, who threw the ball the 2nd. The relay throw to first was wide and took Pujols off the bag. He missed the tag on DeRosa, but Mark turned towards 2nd and Pujols tagged him then.

Does it matter if you miss the bag? I wonder what the rules say about running past first base if you miss it.

throw was on homeplate side of first and wide. Pujols came off the bag and tried the swipe tag, but DeRosa deeked into foul territory and Pufols missed iwth the swipe. however, DeRosa couldn't get back to the bag.

obviously a bunch of Cards started yelling about it and Pujols went to tag and DeRosa made a move to second and got tagged out.

I'm just saying his best bet was to hope for all the umps miss him not touching first.

The return throw to 1B pulled Pujols off the bag. DeRosa got by him to touch 1B but he made a move towards 2B and was tagged out by Pujols.

DeRosa shouldn't have moved, Angel would've had no argument to call him out, having already called him safe at first.
