Guillen definitely had a brain cramp leaving Podsednick in the game with that terrible arm and poor catching skills... I wonder if his head hurts. :P

 

Did you see the play he made in the 6th inning?

 

He's very very good in CF, maybe the best. Theres really no reason he should be on the bench.

 

Anyway, go A's...gotta hold on for another 3 innings.

Yes, I saw it. That does not make him the best defensive CF in baseball. Did you see the ball he misplayed earlier in the game when he didn't cleanly pick it from the wall? That was a routine play!

Are you kidding? I'm looking at it objectively. I watch just as many sox games as I do Cubs games and I remember Anderson misjudging a number of routine plays last year. Typical rookie/inexperienced player who can make the spectacular plays but has brain freeze on some of the routine outs. Heck, I remember Harrelson chiding him for his bad jumps in one particular game last season... He took a bad line in today's game then had trouble picking up the ball near the wall. While I realize anyone can have a bad day in the field, someone dubbed "the best CF in baseball" shouldn't have those problems.

 

He is a nice defensive player but his abilities are grossly overstated. In truth, Anderson's defense might be on par with Felix Pie. Among current MLB CF'ers, I'd say Cameron is better right off the top of my head.

I didn't say Hunter because sometimes he takes some unnecessary chances and, as a result, balls get away but he's also better than Anderson overall.

Curtis Granderson probably should be ranked above him as well, one unfortunate slip notwithstanding.

Sizemore and Hunter are nowhere near Anderson in RATE2...and BP is down...how can I argue with no resources... :D

 

Granderson is right there with him though. Perhaps I was a bit hyperbolic, but Anderson is certainly an elite defensive CF. At the beginning of last season BP wrote an article about how amazing his defense was.

No I just wondered. I don't put a lot of stock into the defensive stats they have out there. I just don't find them to be as accurate at showing a players value as the offensive ones. He is still the best defender, right?
