For the record, I just really hate the idea of a gray uniform in the first place. The cubs colors are Blue, Red, and White....no gray.

 

Plus, gray uniforms are just UGLY.

Every team in the MLB has grey road uniforms. You think MLB would allow the Cubs to be different?

That's how nearly every team's standard home unis are. It's what home uniforms are supposed to be. Coming up with uniforms to be different leads to uniforms that look like they're out of the arena league. Baseball is an old game, and the uniforms should look classic, not post-modern.

If that's the case, then they should go back to the baggy pants look.

I'm all for the classic look with the pinstripes. But I also feel that the alternate uniforms should be used at least from time to time.

How are you going about making these?

 

I use a program called gimp. I get the templates from sportslogos.net forum... you could do what I'm doing in paint for the most part, just takes a lot longer I presume. A lot of the users there use paint, but gimps also free if you want (in the free software thread in social from here).

technically, the Padres and Giants have ugly-ass yellowish road uniforms, but your point stands.

The Padres do not have a gray jersey, I don't think. Their road jerseys are that urine-colored shirt they wear and they sometimes wear their blue jerseys, but I don't recall them having a gray.

 

You're correct about SF, though. I'm pretty sure SD is the only team in the majors without a gray road uniform.

Others have said it before, and I'll say it again (and I'm sure some will be strongly opposed), but a Cubs home uni with no pinstripes would be the hotness. I like the pinstripes, though. Maybe as an alternate? Either way, the same exact jerseys in white w/no pinstripes would be freakin sweet.

 

EDIT - Just saw that TT asked for a pic of something very similar which Wrigley provided... Still, I'm thinking something exactly like the current home whites without the pinstripes, and maybe some blue trim around the edges.

I wish the Cubs would bring the blue and gold Cub head back to the sleeves like the one they used in the 60's and early 70's. If I recall correctly, Herman Franks had it changed because it didn't look mean enough.
