That might have been the most pathetic first inning I've ever seen. Dribbler to the pitcher, horrible KO and a caught stealing. Let's hope Z can light a fire! This isn't an omen is it?

Oh, geez..... this season is heading down the toilet fast..... I was all positive, too, listening to Barrett's comments in the pregame. Settle down, it's just one game.... it's just one inning....

I don't know what was going on that inning. Did he even stop at first? He went for second so quickly I almost missed that. Gonna be a WEIRD season!

He was walked. Then he ran to 2nd on the first pitch to Aramis. Wasn't very weird.

its one game, the first game

if we judged only the first games from 2005 and 2006, we should be back to back world series champs

We score 16 runs in 2005 dont make the playoffs

We score 16 runs in 2006, win only 65 more times after that

The Cubs also blew things out opening day 2004 and 2003, too.

I'm more concerned that the six pitches seen in the sixth inning when we should have been working Harang is evidence that the effects of Dusty have not completely worn off.

Like I said in the game thread today, Lou should cane anybody who swings at the first pitch and doesn't get a hit - or at least doesn't do something good with the ball.

would you read this much into the Red Sox 7-1 loss to KC as well?

Ha. I was gonna come on here and post the same thing. What a crappy opening day though. My two favorite teams play like crap. :x

I already voted Gil Meche as the AL Cy Young.

Harang's pitch count per inning definitely went up as the game went on.

Maybe Harang simply beat us today,

No. Z's walks and getting beat down by the Donkey beat us.

Harang gave up some hard hit balls. Lucky for him they found defenders instead of going for XBH. Freel and Griffey made some nice plays. Harang had good stuff, but he wasn't dominant.
