I'm nowhere near a TV, but Prior's line seems half-decent... Anyone near a TV feel like filling us in? Is his fastball touching 90 at all? Breaking stuff?

I wish I could kick the Prior/Wood habit, but I can't...

He's hit 90-91 a few times in the second inning but his command still isn't great. Check out the game thread.

This may get locked, but-

He topped out at 93 on a fastball with movement. He looked like a different person after the first inning, and he wasn't really hit that hard in the first. He's still struggling with command a little, really brought to attention by Hill pounding the zone in his inning of work, but he certainly looked a lot better than any appearance I read about.

I'm tempted to go back and find the Rich Hill thread in baseball discussions last year and bring it back for this year with a huge bump. I loved posting in that thread after yet another sellar outing in the 2nd half of the year.

Edit - consider it done

That thread was a 'bueat.

progress, topped out at 93mph which will shut up retards like Mariotti.

he has to get better control but i think thats all in his head

I think it's all in his lack of consistency, but that is just me.

Prior's problem is he hasn't really pitched for a long time when he's been healthy in game conditions.

Yeah... "one pitch Rich" became "OMG I want Rich Hill to have my babies!" A lot of folks were too quick in writing him off, but we're all Cub fans and all want him to succeed. Some of us are just a little less impulsive than others. :D

i got flamed when i called for him to be in the rotation at the beginning of the season last year.

can't remember who by, though.

What a swing. I went from finally giving up on Prior in the first inning (and letting all the steroid talk in the game thread get to me) to having renewed optimism and encouragement for him.

Wonder where the various radar readings are coming from.

I don't know- that's far different from the Comcast radar display. He was 91 a lot and 93 on that strikeout.

The Cubs.com article says several scouts radars had him at 86-87 topping out at 89.

Ugh. It was nice seeing that 91 MPH reading come up over and over on Comcast. Guess the radar was just fast.

I got the impression from others that the swings he was getting were from good velo and movement on his FB.

Yea, the game is on comcast again right now, and the swings he is getting really don't look like they're coming from a 87 mph fastball.
