for comparison, what was the gun picking up on maddux last inning?

I saw 85 on one of his pitches. I've had my back to the TV for the most part.

The highest I saw was 87.

He got it up to 93mph. Aside from the gun, the awkward swings, that had been missing in his previous outings, were noticeable today. His pitches were deceptive and he was throwing harder.

The old Padres guy and Mazur remind me a little bit of Pat and Ron in the booth...Mazur is actually pretty good, and the old guy plays the Ron part, except he's not funny, loveable or knowledgable.

They are talking about Maddux's mph

Pads announcers just reported that WGN's radar gun was picking up Prior around 92-93 last inning...I'm confused now. :?

That's what the radar on TV was saying. Why are you confused?

Because I'm listening on Gameday Audio and following this thread (no TV), and there was talk of him being in the mid to high 80's. Guess he's warmed up now.

I feel the need to say it again for some reason. I'm really, really happy.

Me too. He looked good and had some nice curves for K's as well. His FB had good movement. Let's hope he can keep it up!

Yeah, that was the first inning. He kicked the velocity up in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Kinda makes you wonder if he was holding back a bit.

Should I be selfish and take the credit? I started the thread, and when I got back from school in the 2nd inning, Prior started pitching well. :P

I like how this thread went from "He's a finished, steroid ruined, pansy" to "He's back baby!"

God bless game threads!

LOL, it's true but he looked really bad in the first inning (and still only gave up one run).

Giles must have pissed off the ump on the crappy call on that 2nd strike, cause that 3rd one was even further off.

That's the second time I've noticed Brian whining about calls in the two preseason games I've watched San Diego play this spring.

Dear Brian,

It's the preseason.

Get over it.

I'm calling it now.

Mark Prior will be struck by lightning.

Before or after the attack by rabid wolverines?
