The question is, injuries aside, will Marshall make it back?

I think clearly he can. It depends, of course, on how the other options for starters perform and how he performs at AAA.

From the reports I have been reading, his velocity is what it was last season, he was just behind the other pitchers due to shoulder soreness, I believe. If Miller isn't getting the job done, I suspect Guzman will move into the rotation. If he fails, my guess is Marshall is next in line of the guys that are ready right now, but by that time, Prior might have made some strides. It will be interesting to watch...

I think Marshall has a better shot at making it back to the big leagues with another team. There a handful of people ahead of him and Veal, Gallagher and Jeff S. are coming up right behind him.

So Cubs.com shows 17 pitchers and 16 position players left on the active roster (without Marmol and Marshall) but it still lists all the NRIs. How many NRIs are left in big league camp?

I getting pretty excited to see some Icubs games this year. This rotation is shaping up to be the best we've had in a while. Hopefully Ill get a look at Veal and Jeff S. (not evan gonna try to spell it)

I'm ticked because the Iowa Cubs don't come to Sacramento this year.

I agree. I hope he pitches well in AAA. He will become a great trade chip.

Agreed - he looks like prime trade bait to me. Too many guys in front of him, and several guys with higher ceiling behind him.

I feel like we have some decent things happening agian on the farm. Where does BA rank us at this point?

For what its worth, I watched Marshall pitch against Gallardo on Saturday at Fitch park. He seemed to just completely come apart after he lost control of a few pitches. At least on Saturday he appeared to be very, very frustrated and was bouncing pitches two feet before the plate. It was a troubling performance given that I've always been impressed with the poise that Marshall appears to bring to the mound.

Yovani Gallardo, on the other hand, was phenomenal.

He's still not quite ready for The Show. The Cubs beat him up pretty good when he pitched against the ML team.
