I live in a zip code where I can't get Comcast TV through my cable network and it will black out the cubs games according to MLB.TV. My question to those who may be in a similar zip code, if you get the MLB.TV and live in a zip code that's blacked out, is it just the home feed that's blacked out or is the away broadcoast blacked out as well?

Thanks.

If you live in your team's market, then you will generally only experience blackouts during home games, except when the game is nationally televised (FOX, ESPN, etc.)

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/mlbtv.jsp

Local Live Blackout: ALL LIVE MLB.TV games will be blacked out in each applicable Club's home television territory (except for certain home television territories for which MLB.com may offer in-market subscription services) or in Japan.

National Live Blackout (Regular Season): Due to Major League Baseball national exclusivities, scheduled webcasts of certain games during the regular season (including nationally televised games) will be blacked out. Please be sure to visit http://www.MLB.TV during the 2007 MLB season for complete and updated schedule information.

one could us a proxy server to circumvent a local live blackout, but I'm not an advocate of this.

if you haven't already signed up, then just put in a different zip code that wont be blacked out.

If we are talking about mlb.tv, then they likely determine your zip code based upon ip address.

Oh, didnt know that. My tax home is in a black out market (Iowa), but I travel and have the internet setup from wherever I am living (currently california soon to be North Carolina) so that must be why it works for me. Thanks for clearing that up.

...or billing address on your credit card.

Wrong. Only the address on your IP.

I lived in England last year and watched every game, bought from a credit card that has an 61801 zip code, which is in the blackout area.

This is kind of off topic as far as the mlb.tv questions so far, but somebody may find it relevent. I have fairly high speed internet(wireless through my apartment complex) not quite DSL but a lot better than dial-up. Anyway i got the package last year and very ofter got a choppy feed given the fluxion of bandwith depending on the traffic. However since downloading the newest version of windows media player I have had flawless playback in the original mlb.tv picture but not the new premium. I'm no IT guy by far so for all I know the it may not have anything to do with the new WMP update, but it was all i needed. Hopes this helps somebody!
