  1. Can't seem to get a pair together in the bleachers for game 5. I can get singles, does anybody know if the bleachers are GA first come first serve in the playoffs. If I got one ticket that said section 337 Row 13 Seat 101, and another ticket elswhere, would I be able to go w/ a friend and sit with that person since it's the bleachers?
  2. I was at the game in the right field stands. Sosa took the homerun lead that game with two dingers. When the fly ball was hit to Brown, I turned to a friend of mine and we congratulated each other on the Cubs winning, when we turned around all we saw were a bunch of Brewers circling the bases, we didn't even see Brown drop the ball. We went from complete elation to utter disbelief.
  3. I now need reassurance that we aren't peaking too soon before the playoffs.
  4. Where is Woody today and why wasn't he in the pen? Did Len or Bob mention it in the broadcast?
  5. Oh dear  Cory Harts future son in law. It's no wonder 7 year olds are getting hit by line drives at Wrigley.
  6. Do you think Pittsburgh would entertain a trade for Nate Mclouth? He'd be a nice LH bat that JH wants for centerfield and he's been raking this year. What would it take to pry him away from Pittsburgh?
  7. Felix should have called him off, that's a little league decision.
  8. I know he has a no trade clause but right now, a Soriano for Lincecum trade would make me very happy.
  9. I think more than likely there are some significant names on the list, however, I highly doubt that it will become public knowledge. To add another conspiracy, I think that Mitchell holding the list of names will use it as leverage over Fehr and the players union to have more stringent drug testing (i.e. blood testing) and more significant penalties for those who get caught. Thus no major names are outed, congress will be appeased, and MLB will come out without too much damage being done.
  10. From the Sun-Times: The night before, Trachsel had a mini-meltdown, shouting obscenities at a small group of reporters who had joined some Cubs watching the Brewers game on a big-screen clubhouse TV. The outburst came just minutes after Piniella held a rare team meeting and told his players to relax and have fun. Trachsel's tirade was shades of 2004, when reliever Kent Mercker -- among others -- became distracted down the stretch and waged war against broadcasters Steve Stone and Chip Caray.
  11. Any specifics as to what caused Trax to have his mini-meltdown towards the media in the clubhouse the other night. Reports I've read on this have been vague, and there's been no indication of what exactly set him off. Bruce, if you reading this, any more specifics on this episode?
  12. Anybody here have the site address for sopcast so I may be able to watch this game?
  13. Listening to Stoney on the Score this morning, he seemed to be implying the same thing, saying he'd like to be on the same workout regimen Soto was on in the offseason. It's hard not to raise your eyebrows a bit when a player equals his career totals in homeruns in one year Is there a minor league expert out there that may know if Soto changed his stroke this year, ala Sandberg, or if his power surge is attributed to weight loss, etc. I love Soto and his current production, but it is difficult not to be skeptical on the means he might have pursued in order to do so.
  14. Kerry Wood is the only Cub to play on both the 1998 and 2003 playoff teams. Trax only played on 98 and Ramirez played on only the 03 team.
  15. Going to Busch Stadium to catch the final game of the series this weekend. Any idea what the pitching match-up will be? Also, for those who have been to the new Busch stadium, anything particular about the intricacies of new Busch that would be good to know or check out while I'm there. I'll be sitting with my son in the first row behind the Cubs bullpen. Are those seats a pretty good vantage point for the game?
  16. I'm surprised more teams don't play D. Lee like Pittsburgh did. He hit's an awful lot of his hits right up the middle.
  17. I'm thinking about going to my first Bulls game during the playoffs this year. I'm kind of frugal, so I don't really want to spend a $2-300 a ticket for 200 or 100 level seating. How are the 300 level seats? Are they worth the $50 price tag or would I enjoy it more sitting in front of my HDTV at home? For those of you who have been to the UC, any advice would be appreciated.
  18. I live in a zip code where I can't get Comcast TV through my cable network and it will black out the cubs games according to MLB.TV. My question to those who may be in a similar zip code, if you get the MLB.TV and live in a zip code that's blacked out, is it just the home feed that's blacked out or is the away broadcoast blacked out as well? Thanks.
  19. A few years back my wife and I went to Arizona for spring training. Ronnie was walking around the grand stand doing his usual wooing. My wife, who knows absolutley nil about baseball, asked me who he was. I told her he was a Cubs Hall of Famer, who had a stroke a few years back and was now unfortunately reduced to a fanatic fan. I asked her to go up to him and ask him for his autgraph. She went up and I saw her ask for his autograph, and he said something to her, and she then started to hysterically laugh. When she came back to our seats, I asked her what he said after he autographed the ball, and his exact words were, "Thanks for the memories." He then proceeded to chant Thanks...wooo!....For.....Wooo!....The....Woo....Memories!!!!!.....Wooo!!!! Now everytime I leave for work or just leave on an errand, I always say...thanks for the memories.
  20. I'm not saying that the other "juiced" players should be ignored. But if you were going to compare and contrast two "like" players, one who used steroids and one who didn't and the outcome of their careers, you couldn't pick two players to compare better. If you were to go back 10 years and bet on the one player to break Aaron's record, 9 out of 10 bets would have been placed on Jr. In the end, Bonds will have all the record numbers, but if I had to pick either player in their primes without the "juice", I'd take Griffey everytime. It's speculation of course, but take away the HGH, Bonds would have broke down just like Griffey, and vice versa, had Griffey been on the Juice, there's a could chance he would have already broke Aaron's numbers. I'm glad it's pointed out in this article, and in the end, even though Griff won't have the numbers Bonds has, he'll have a clear conscious.
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=pearlman/070222
  22. I was extremely disappointed in Lovie's playing not to lose this game towards the end of the 4th quarter. No confidence in Rex whatsoever by the coaching staff.
  23. I was working under the premise of the get the player now and find a spot for him later.
  24. Here's the link, not sure how to abbreviate it. What do you think the Rockies would take to pry away Hawpe and Jennings? We'd have to work a 3 way, and trade Jacque, because according to this the Rockies have plenty of depth in the outfield. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/sports_columnists/article/0,1299,DRMN_83_5166733,00.html
