Why do some people act like these two are weighing down the team or something?

 

Have you forgotten that Floyd hit 34 bombs just two years ago? Or that Ward had an OPS of over 1.000 against righties last year? How does letting them go make the team any better? Because it would make the Cubs younger?

Ward isn't blocking anyone. He was signed primarily to be a pinch hitter. As far as Floyd is concerned, his health will most likely dictate his ability to play.
