I'm not concerned at all about Prior's lack of control...I'm concerned about him only hitting 82-83 on the gun...The old Prior is not that kind of pitcher...if he's really lost that much speed...and wasn't just going at 85% or something today...then there may be reason to worry.

I love it when people from opposing teams get all upset when there stadium gets taken over by the Cubs. Like its Cubs fans fault their fans don't care enough about them to buy more tickets. Edited by Brian

I seriously think Prior is done..He had one great year like alot of pitchers..Then just broke down,I don't think hell ever be a capable Number 1 or 2 starter again.

I like your optimism, keep up the positive thinking.

Myself, I'll give him more than 30 pitches before making a snap judgment.

He threw 40

Owned.

I don't care if Prior gives up 10 runs in his next start, as long as he hits 88. Maybe he can be effective as a low velocity pitcher. We signed Maddux for a reason, didn't we?

No it's called overreacting/total lack of baseball perspective. It's spring training, and means little. Particularly, for a pitcher injured for the majority of 2 years. As long as has normal soreness, and isn't hurt, today was a good day.

If he's throwing 85 at the end of ST, then worry.

It's part of the fan base. Go to Boston and NY message board and you'll get the same thing...Cubs fans are passionate.

He was very good in both 02 and 05. He didn't just have one great year. In fact, the only year he was ineffective was last year, and he clearly wasn't right. We'll see, come April, if that is still the case or if this is just early spring training rust.

"I've only seen one guy make the transition from flame-thrower to great pitcher. Frank Tanana."

WHAT??

STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming this guy was around Seattle when Randy Johnson evolved into a great pitcher, that's beyond ridiculous.

That's not what he's talking about. Randy Johnson was a flamethrower who became a great pitcher because he gained more control. With Frank Tanana, he's talking about a guy who threw hard at one point in his career, but lost velocity and still managed to be an effective pitcher.

Pagan vs Putz

Pie at first, on the move with the 2nd pitch

pitch one: ball low

pitch two: foul

pitch three: ball

throws to first to chase Pie

pitch four: ball low; 3-1 count

pitch five: fouled; Pie was on the move

pitch six: Basehit, Pie to 3rd

exactly....and i wasn't even talking about prior...i was talking about how everyone flipped their lids because cedeno grounded into a DP in a meaningless game.

Passion is fine. Thinking the man is done pitching after 40 pitches in his first ST game in 2 years after 2 years of being away with injuries, is a little different than passion.

I love this team with tons of passion. I'm just not going to meltdown due to one bad outing by Prior. Let's see how he progresses through ST.

Ten pitches changes everything, eh?
