So, how many different ways can Keith Olbermann's name be butchered in this thread? :)

I thought it was something like Olberman. But I didn't care about his name. Did Arod really say what he said she said he said?

All the pieces are coming together. He's put it out on the table to Yankee fans. Do you want me? Or not? Such a large part of the Yankee fan base is so far up Jeters butt, they will demand he gets traded ASAP. Hey, it's the Yanks, I could see it happening.

The Cubs are looking for middle infield help?

I believe I read Arod bulked up a little when he changed to 3B a couple years ago. Arguments can be made, but I think he'd feel right at home playing SS for the next couple of seasons.

We have several trade options. People seem to forget, if Arod wants to come to Chicago, the Yanks don't have much say in it. If they want anything in return, they have to trade him this season. If he's being a "cancer", they'll look to move him soon. I still don't think it will cost Z or Aram.

Yeah oberman did say he heard everyone say Arod said that. However how good are his sources?

I like where this is headed. 8-)

I'm gald you were able to listen to it I wanted to confirm what I heard but the clip was silent.

Dan Patrick made the same type of comment about two weeks ago.

Yeah but he was just guessing that is what would happen KO's comment was that Arod was telling people that he was going to the Cubs. How good his sources are is the question.

this sounds more and more like a-rod is destined for chitown. What are the chances we swing a midseason deal?

I really, really don't want to get my hopes up about having this same team

- 1 Izturis & + 1 ARod next year.

yeah I had to download the full show. Olbermann basically said everyone he talked to. "EVERYONE". That Arod's been saying over the winter "he was gonna be with Lou next year with the Cubs". Take that for whatever you want.

But then this week on Yankee nation radio he has said things like he 100% wants to be a Yankee. Either Arod is feeble, or someone is lying. If it's the former, give me a feeble 1.000 OPS hitter on my team, plz. :D

Rodriguez also said repeatedly that he wants to remain a Yankee. "It’s a do-or-die situation," Rodriguez said. "Either New York is going to kick me out of New York this year. Listen, at some point, either New York is going to say, ‘I’ve had enough of this guy, get him the hell out of here’ — and we have an option — or New York is going to say, ‘Hey, we won a world championship, you had a big year, you’re a part of it, we want you back.’"

yeah I've read that. What's your opinion on that?

The writing is on the wall. A-Rod has been the scapegoat the last few years and the fans ride him everyday.

At a certain point, a guy is going to say enough is enough. I think A-Rod wants to be happy in New York, but New York isn't allowing that to happen. Therefore, the rumors of coming to play for Lou where the Chicago fans will embrace him.

Something tells me that if Arod was saying this sort of thing guys like Buster Olney or Peter Gammons or guys who are with the Yanks a little bit more then Olbermann would be reporting it.

Yeah this was my initial thought too. If A-Rod has been telling "everyone" this, than why is only Olbermann reporting it? I don't think Keith is making it up, but maybe he's not really saying this to as many people as Keith thinks...

I must keep myself skeptical on this.

I've heard it quite a bit. The local media seems to think that somehow, someway, ARod will play for somebody other than the Yankees next year, and that the Cubs (because of Lou) are the obvious front-runners.

Unless Arod can play SS, he won't play for the Cubs.

I don't think that is the case at all. He could play 2nd base or one of the corner outfield spots.

2B, maybe. The Cubs are not going to sign him to play corner outfield though-they already have their future plan for the outfield set out.

How is that? Pie and Soriano are two, but if you're thinking Tyler Colvin three, I like Colvin's upside. But he wouldn't bump A-Rod from a job, c'mon.

Rodriguez, Soriano, Pie--yep, I could live with that. :-)

It seems like they are content with Murton (after this year) to have the job full-time for at least 3-4 years.

That kind of stuff is constantly in flux. Ruling out the acquisition of ARod because you think you might have a position settled for 3-4 years would be absurd.

I still said they might acquire him for 2B-but they are not going to acquire him and pay him all that money for a position in which they already have players they are happy with.

There are 2 corner OF positions, and they are nowhere near set for the next 3-4 years.

One of those corner outfielders certainly is set with Soriano. The Cubs already said that the reason they had a tough time finding a guy to replace Jones over the off-season was that they refused to get anybody that could block Pie for any reason-that's not likely to change, so Pie gets CF. Then you have Murton. To sign A-Rod, they would have to pay him 15+ million, then shift him to completely different type of position than he's ever played, and then trade Murton. That seems very, very unlikely to me.

I'm happy with Derrek Lee but if the front office in St. Louis lost their minds and Pujols wanted out I think I would find a way to accomidate that.

By the way, who says they are happy with either corner outfield spot? They are planning on platooning Murton and JJ is on the block.

Pie is everybody's darling but he is no sure thing to be an every day player anytime soon.

It's all hypothetical so I'm not going to get too worked up, but I think you are completely off-base.

Is there any reason to believe Arod couldn't play short any more? He's what 30, 31 or 32? What Omar Visquel 80 or something? Why is there even a discussion on putting Arod at a different postion? I'm sure playing 3rd base for a couple years he's prolly forgot how to play short..
