I see:

Zambrano

Lilly

Hill

Prior

Guzman

With Marquis in the bullpen as the long relief/we don't care anymore option and Miller at AAA.

Reason I say Miller at AAA is because he hasn't thrown a lot of innings in a while and I think he still needs more time to work out some kinks.

Can they send Miller to AAA if he doesn't accept a demotion?

Anyone else catch the little blurb in the Sun Times that said Prior took more time to loosen up than any other the other pitchers in his group?

Veteran right-handers Mark Prior and Wade Miller, both coming off injury-wracked seasons and trying to earn spots in the starting rotation, threw their scheduled first-day bullpen sessions Thursday, although Prior took more time to loosen up than the others in his group.

He'll probably ask for his release. Im sure some other MLB team has a room in there rotation for him.

If all are healthy this rotation is going to be a lighting rod for discussion.

Yup. Hopefully he's just being very cautious.

Does it really even matter how long it takes him to warm up?

Of course it does.

Call me optimisic (I am a Cubs fan, afterall), but I hope this is a sign that he realizes he's not an ironman, and he needs to take extra precautions to take care of himself. That could be a very good thing.

Only on NSBB and cubs.com can prior taking longer to warm up be a red flag. I wouldn't be suprised if he took longer in the bathroom and it would cause an uproar. .

"Prior takes longer than teammates to releive himself. Possible arm injury the cause".

Possible arm injury? What was he doing in the bathroom?

Honestly, some people are emotional about things like this and some are not. I'm not particularly worried because it's normal for a guy that's coming off an injury to take longer than the guys that have been healthy. I really don't think it's just a NSBB or Cubs.com thing but an individual one.

Every little detail is going to be reported after the fiasco of Prior's special injury-prevention pitching program that seemingly involved him not pitching last spring training (as well as other past events).

The writer of the Sun Times article thought that it was important enough to include it into his article. Maybe it was a statement in passing, or maybe the writer found it significant somehow.

Considering Mark Prior's health issues, any reports regarding his progress are relevant, not just the positive ones.

Just because Miller is throwing doesn't mean anything. He couldn't break 90 last year and during his successful years he was at 93-94. I can throw all day. But my 67 mph heater isn't going to cut it.

It's something the writer noticed and Prior is a huge magnet for things like that right now. I don't expect him to make the 25 on Opening Day but he'll continue to show improvement as the season progresses. I'm not counting on the man and if he can pitch....and pitch well it'll be a bonus.

Maybe you should try throwing with the right hand then?

It wasn't his stuff that was a problem when he came up to the majors though-it was his control. If he gets better control, he could be effective even at 89-90 with all the movement on his pitches.

I've never really been that big of a Miller fan. I see him as a slightly better version of Marquis but can't pitch because he hasn't been healthy.

I think the key is that Wade gets enough strikeouts to get out of more jams than Marquis can. Like I said, he had plenty of K's last year, but he simply walked way too many people-if he cuts the walk rate a little bit this year to what he had done while healthy in previous years, he could be very effective again.

Ok I realize I shouldn't have said that). .

That's a poor comparison.

Aye, indeed it is. When a poor man makes a retort it often is a poor mans retort. Go to the head of the class.
