Uhm...we were talking about how a 2 man return team could be successful. I said I wanted Hester to be the lone man because he can get to any normal kick. However I guess you think he should also be able to get to short squib kicks, but if I have to miss your brilliant insight as we've seen so far, well lets just say I won't be missing much.

I'm no mind reader, and neither is anyone else. If you want to talk about 'normal' kicks, not short ones, then fine -- say so. You asked if I recall Hester not getting to kicks, I did and pointed out where, and you agreed but then said I was wrong. That didn't seem logical to me, so I simply asked how it was wrong.

I would like to end this. So I am done with it. Have a good evening.

Can we be realistic here? Deep return men are not there to catch short/squib kicks. What is hard to understand about that? I felt you disrespected me here, nothing major but I'm not gonna analyze the return game and get called out for something as silly as 'just catching the ball.' Do not oversimplify things and expect me to agree with it. If you're done with it fine, I am too but in the future lets stick on the major points shall we?

Hester has apparently looked pretty good at WR so far. Could be all fluff though. Too lazy to link. There are stories about it in the Chicago papers.

Well think of it this way. He's already contributed more than Airese Currie 8-)

1. The Bears -- believe it or not -- are a faster team than last year.

Devin Hester was converted to wide receiver and he was zipping around the field, doing reverses and making sure-handed catches. Halfback Cedric Benson has a new spring to his step now that he doesn't have to worry about Thomas Jones competing for his playing time. Despite Lance Briggs' holdout, the Bears have some speedy replacements for the future in Jamar Williams and Michael Okwo. Adam Archuleta adds speed at safety. To make matters worse for the rest of the league, the Bears didn't have tight end Greg Olsen and halfback Garrett Wolfe at minicamp because they were attending the Premiere sponsorship affair in Los Angeles. This might be the Bears' most athletic team since the 1985 Super Bowl squad.

For the overload of attention he got the last 4 months of the season, I don't think I saw Rex's name mentioned anywhere this weekend.

The media was too busy drooling over Hester's performance (and hopefully rightly so).

ChicagoBears.com[/url]"]Larry: How did Rex Grossman perform in the Bears minicamp?

Tim M.

Oregon City, Oregon

Tim: Rex Grossman made some excellent throws in the three practices (not counting the one that Brian Urlacher intercepted on Sunday). But what impressed me most were Grossman’s fundamentals. He didn’t throw off his back foot and he actually stepped up in the pocket and completed a strike to Mark Bradley on the sideline on one play. New quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton has been working intensely with Grossman on stepping up in the pocket, which he rarely if ever did last season. Stepping up rather than backpedaling in the pocket will keep Grossman from throwing off his back foot and enable him to make a positive play when the first option isn’t open, either with a pass to a secondary receiver or by scrambling.

Haven't heard much about him other than talk of him selling a reverse to Hester after Benson had already been handed the ball. :reggiebush:

I am most happy about Brown being healthy. It is a big if, but if he can stay healthy, it could fix one of the bigger problems with the Bears D from the end of last year.

A lot of people have crapped on the Bears offseason this year, but I think they did a good job, in general.

This is good to hear.

I love the fluff portion of the off-season.

I'm guessing you are exaggerating a bit. I read about him a couple times. It seems the writers are making a conscious decision to not talk about the so-called QB controversy though, realizing what a waste of time it is to ask for the millionth time whether or not Lovie is thinking about bringing in Griese.

Could be. I wasn't reading things very closely, but it seemed that everything was Hester-related.

If I'm an opposing coach, I'd plan to counteract swings passes and reverses, but would not worry much about his route running and deep receiving threat until he shows it in a game. I'm betting Hester won't be much of an impactful receiver down the field, rather it'll be all about getting the ball in his hands.

Well it's definitely been limited.

I wonder how he's handled the Super Bowl.
