that's great news.

5 year deal.

John Fox and Jeff Fisher money.

the new deal gives him " a major, major bump in pay".

Keeping with the Bears' reputation of being cheap.

??????????

WHAT

Jesus some people will complain about anything. Lets lay it on the line. He doesn't deserve 8 million a year, his scheme is actually pretty shi**y on the whole, but he motivated the team, got them in shape, and held them accountable. (Unlike Jauron)

Why does he deserve more than those guys? They all went to the Superbowl and lost as well, y'know.

Sarcasm.

The Bears haven't been cheap in a while but some people want to keep up their old reputation. I totally agree with your assessment with Lovie too.

huh?, his "scheme" produces turnovers like none other in the NFL.

I don't like the Cover 2.

The Score announced that Lovie & the Bears agreed to a 4 year extension that will have him in town until at least 2011. Angelo also extended through 2013.

News conference tomorrow.

I know PFT is not the most reliable of places, so this could be completely false. However, they do break things from time to time, so I just thought that I'd throw this out there:

With Lovie Smith being the lowest-paid head coach in the NFL and no signs of any impending effort to provide him with fair market value, we're told that at least one veteran member of the Bears is telling at least one potential free-agent target not to sign with the team.

It could be a sign of things to come for the Bears, unless and until they get Smith's contract status resolved. We've previously heard that many veterans plan to refuse to do any contract restructurings or other business with the team.

PFT nails another one.

Here's a quote from their story of the new contract:

With rampant rumors of veteran players who were committed to scaring off potential free agents, perhaps the team realized that it was time to offer Smith fair value.

I've heard reports of 5 years/$22 million.

Lovie caved then.

Sorry, that's a typo. It's a 4-year deal, so that's $5.5 million a year.

Ahhh...ok...Bears caved then! :D

If that is sarcasm, I dont understand what part of their report was proved incorrect by Lovie Smith signing[/b]

Quoted the wrong one. Check out Chocolate Milk's post to see what I meant to quote.
