2) If Jesus asks me to start enforcing the 2nd/3rd commandment here, you can bet that I'll take him seriously at that time.

It's cool with me homeboy.

Mad props to JC!

Where's JC?

Muskat says Murton will likely platoon in LF and be a bench option.

*&%$!!!

Oh well, Murt will just have to outplay his geriatric wrinkled hiney. Lou isn't Dusty. Performance actually matters.

Don't worry what Muskat has to say, she is worthless!

can we stop calling her Muskat? jesus.

Is it really that big of deal?

No, but that's because it really reflects more upon the childishness of the person calling names than it does upon Carrie.

I have no problem with refraining from calling her Muskat, I just find it hard to believe that it is a bigger deal than openly taking the Lords name in vain.

Call me childish, that is cool, but to continue to let people use language on this board that IS OFFENSIVE and not call them out is a pathetic lack of control in my opinion!

1) I'm not calling you childish. I'm saying that calling people names is childish.

2) If Jesus asks me to start enforcing the 2nd/3rd commandment here, you can bet that I'll take Him seriously at that time.

-- edited to capitalize "Him"!

I just thought it was hilarious that a poster complained about "Muskat" but immediately followed it up with taking the Lord's name in vain. You just can't make that stuff up.

But, back to Floyd.

17.5MM for 2 years (potentially)? No way does his production warrant that contract even if he's healthy.

I worry when we give someone who is supposed to be a backup huge incentives for large numbers of plate appearances. Especially when Hendry has talked about the need for another lefty in the lineup at least as often as he's talked about his man love for Murton.

Is there any other market for players currently under contract? The bonds market?

I seriously don't get this. Jones is going to outproduce, be healthier, and make less money than Floyd.

How much of that is residual wariness left over from Baker's tenure?

Well, if Jones is really still asking to be traded, then it's not in Hendry, or the Cubs, interest to try and keep him around if he doesn't want to be here.

I guess if that's the case then it makes sense to me. That would mean Hendry's just trying to honor the guy's request while leaving his ballclub with a ballplayer who is of similar qualities.

Just my humble opinion, but my sense is that the Lord would view calling another human being "worthless" as being much worse than taking his name in vain.

Probably a fair amount. I'm willing to let it play out and see what happens.

But I've prepared myself to be disappointed.

Lou doesn't exactly inspire warm and cuddly feelings when it comes to veteran favoritism either.

We're getting J.C. Romero? Seriously, in real life I swear for punctuation. I don't feel I need to on this board. I come here because everyone already understands the frustration of being a Cubs fan.

seriously, it's what 3rd graders do, changing someone's name to make fun of them. it's not offensive, but it's really stupid and childish.

I'm rooting harder for Jacque Jones now after reading Sam Walker's Fantasyland. JJ seems like a really nice guy who takes the game way too hard. That said, he's much more palatable with Murton, Soriano and Floyd than Rookie Murton, Pierre and Nevin.

Somehow I have a feeling that if someone called Niefi worthless, there would not be an uproar.

Niefi = Worthless player

Muskat = Worthless reporter

From a board that allows nicknames like "Slappy", and "Jock Strap".....it is hard to believe that people have such a big problem with "Muskat". Seems like some people are being a little oversensitive.

She's just doing her job. She works for MLB. If you expepect cutting edge commentary and scoups from someone whose job it is to be a spokes person, I don't know what to tell you.

I think it is more likely that Jones is traded and Hendry is going to rely on both Floyd and Murton in the OF. It would be nice if Hendry really did intend to use him as the 4th OF.

Can someone say I told you so again when Floyd goes 2 for 3 with a double? Even in this worst case scenario, Floyd's not a scrub.

They face Cincy on opening day, so it's likely to be Harang or Arroyo. He's got a 1700 OPS against Arroyo but is 0-6 against Harang.

Who is going to play RF? Not Floyd and not Murton.

The absolute hypocracy of it is astounding. I'm not offended, but there would be a good many human beings who would be by your remark. On the other hand, Carrie Muskat doesn't have that many followers. At least, the Carrie cult seems to be very low key, so who really knows.

Jones, Ohman, AAA SP and maybe Izturis for a Felipe Lopez level shortstop? I'm guessing Pie gets called up when Floyd gets hurt.

In the worst case scenario Floyd would be pretty close to a scrub.
