Personally I am very pleased to see him take a leadership role. It is easy to sit back and say this is awful, why dont they fix it? Its something else entirely to actually lead and try to make a difference. Go Ryno.

From the article:

A friend remembers sitting with Sandberg at a Cubs game near the end of last year's dreadful season and seeing him get up and leave.

''He said, 'I can't stand watching this,''' the friend said of what Sandberg considered inept fundamentals.

So bothered was Sandberg that he threw his hat into the Cubs' managerial ring.

I'd like to hear Sandberg say what he thought of the Dusty era. I'm sure he wouldn't have too many nice things to say.

Unfortunately, you'll never hear any such thing. I don't know if it's because there is a written or unwritten rule that you don't badmouth others in your field or if people prefer not to swim upstream (make waves) within the baseball ranks.

Dusty was pathetic. Much worse than Don Baylor. If Dusty wasn't tossing out ridiculous quotes (white boys can't play day baseball, etc....), he was tossing out ridiculous line ups.
