And if it wasn't for Bush/McCallisters, the Saints would have NO OFFENSE, whatsoever.

"NO OFFENSE"???

Did you know we have a quarterback who has the most passing yards in the entire NFL. Had 11 games this year with a 90+ passer rating. Has only thrown one interception in his last 7 games.

We have the number one passing offense in the NFL, yet without our RB's we have "no offense?"

the offense begins and ends with Bush and Mccallister, if they werent there defenses would sit on the pass

You could say that about damn near any team that has a decent running back.

"No Offense"...my aching ass.

they wouldnt have made the playoffs without them

Now take away Urlacker (sp) and another key Bear and you could say the same thing.

So? They do have them. I'm sure the Bears wouldn't have made the playoffs without a bunch of their studs. What's the point of this conversation?

I don't consider those guys as the two best like Bush and McCallister are.

Tommie Harris is the best DT in the NFC.

So? They do have them. I'm sure the Bears wouldn't have made the playoffs without a bunch of their studs. What's the point of this conversation?

my point is the Bears eventhough they havent shown it the past month have a great defense and if they stop Bush and Duece, this offense will sputter and fall apart. This is especially true if its snowing and the ground is wet and Bush cant cut back and forth

Yeah, obviously if the Bears can shut down the running game the chances are they will win. It's easier said than done, though.

Or maybe Drew Brees' QB ability spreads the field and opens up the run? Maybe Brees is the reason they are so good and not vice versa as you suggest.

Regardless, it's a completely ridiculous argument for you to make because you can play that game with any NFL team.

Guys, lets not let our allegence (sp?) blind us. To say the Saints would have no offense without the running backs they have now is insane. Drew Brees put up a MONSTER season. Their receivers are very good as well. Give them any normal running back, and they still have an extremely good offense. You have to give credit where credit is due.

But, I think Tommie Harris and Mike Brown are bigger keys than McCallister and Bush. Harris and Brown are both pro bowlers. Harris anchors the defensive and was wreaking havoc in every backfield until he got hurt. Notice the difference in numbers since those two went down. Bush is a nice story, and a flashy player, but he's no pro bowler in my opinion.

The Saints faced 4 top 10 defenses this year (carolina twice and Baltimore, Pittsburgh) and lost 4 times.

The Bears faced 4 top 10 defenses also and went 2-2 (minnesota twice, Miami, and the Patriots)

without a good running game, Brees dosent have nowhere near the season he did this year.

Wow, then I'd hate to see how far down Grossman would be without Jones and Benson, because the Bears running backs outrushed the Saints backs. (Jones over McCallister, Benson over Bush)

In the second Carolina loss, our first stringers literally played ONE series. Second, against the Steelers we put up 31 points.

Bush and Duece have done nothing on grass fields this year, Bush has a 2.6 average and duece a 3.6

on artifical turf it jumps to 4.2 for Bush and 4.7 for Duece

Against the Ravens defense, Deuce and Reggie had a crappy day and combined for only 27 yards rushing. YET, Drew Brees threw for 383 yards and 3td's. That hardly sounds like the running game opened up the pass in that game.

a loss is still a loss and against the steelers you gave up 38 points

It's DEUCE. Jesus man, if you're going to lay some smack at least spell the guys name right.

And about the grass v. turf thing. You're right. Deuce and Reggie only got to the places they are because of turf. They were only both 1st round draft picks as a result of playing in domes their whole lives.

Saints were 6-2 on the road this year and both Bush and Deuce averaged 3.9ypc on the road.

3-2 on natural turf.
