Has anyone heard anything definitive on this recently? I've still seen no MLB/DirecTV press release saying this HAS happened...just a lot of talk that is probably is going to happen...we're coming up on the first spring training game...you'd think this would be getting nailed down soon.

this article might be interesting to you. I hope he's right.

I like the way this guy is thinking...I also hope he's right.

One way or another, they better announce something soon. Dragging it out this long only hurts marketing efforts for growing the service.

they must think ANY publicity, good or bad, is good for them. I know they have a right to do what they want, but I truly can't believe they can decide to PO so many people. But then again, it is MLB.

I haven't had the time to read all of these posts, but has anyone else had this happen to them.

I just received an e-mail stating the MLB-TV is going to renew my subscription, but I did not subscribe last year and have no desire to do so this year. So now I have to cancel an order for something that I never ordered!!!!!!!!! I am f......pissed!!! What gives them the right!

If it makes you feel any better, my cable company auto-renews me each year. I would have to call them to cancel it. But, I like that I have that. I think you get discounts for auto-renewing, too.

I called my cable company to put in my order, and they said it wasn't available to order yet. Still in a holding pattern.

I just received a similar e-mail about Gameday Audio. However, I had subscribed to that in the past. I didn't renew this year because I almost never used it anymore since subscribing to Extra Innings, but cancelling the Gameday Audio subscription was easy. I just had to click on the link provided, and that was it.

Now that I have had time to cool off, I was probably over reacting.

It was easy to unsubscribe, but that wasn't the point. The point was that they were renewing me when I wasn't even on in the first place. If I had been in a position where I did not, or could not, check my e-mail, I would have been signed up and billed without my knowledge.

I also do not like the fact that MLB has the all the information needed to charge me for whatever they want kept in storage from several years ago.

And yes my signiture is big. But I like the painting.

This happened to me when mlbtv first came out. I purchased one month of the service, to test it out, and hated the results. Then, starting in January of the next year, they started charging me $15 a month for the service. It was on a credit card I stopped using, so by the time I check the bill in February, they had charged me again, and wouldn't reimburse me. It tooks several phone calls to get that one fixed.

Below is a response from Charter communications re: MLB-EI after I had asked a question as to its availablity this year....doesn't really say much at all...

Jacqueline: Thank you for waiting, We don't have any information yet about the avalibility, the kick off date last year was April 3rd you are going to have to check back mid way through March for more information.

Moorecg: Thank you. I know that the cable companies are currently negotiating with MLB and there are discussions about this service going exclusively to DirecTV...please inform whomever appropriate at Charter that customers really want to keep this package available.

Jacqueline: Charter is aware, did you have any further questions for me today ?

Moorecg: No, thank you for your support.

i'm think i'm going to break down and get mlb.tv. i'm just hoping that if the quality sucks, as i fear it might, i'll be able to cancel and get a prorated refund. i should be more than ok bandwith wise, i'm at 986 MHz instead of the recommended 1000 which should be close enough, and i've got double the RAM needed. i'm just guessing the demo may not match the product you get everyday.

Looks like cable may keep MLB EI because they finally decided to play ball:

The key isn't likely to revolve around more money, but an agreement by the cable operators to provide broader carriage for a Baseball Network which MLB intends to start operating in 2009.

DirecTV had been willing to let all 15 million of its subscribers have the new Baseball Network right from the start, as well as helping with some of the start-up costs, according to multiple sources. It isn't willing to be as helpful to MLB's upstart network if it doesn't gain the advantage of an exclusive deal on Extra Innings, though.

But after initially rebuffing the MLB demands for carriage of the Baseball Network, the cable operators are now coming around, according to the industry source.

"There will be a commitment to carry the Baseball Network (on cable)," said the industry official. "Where it will be placed, that still needs to be sorted out."

Cable's tight sphincter is legendary. MLB had to carry through on their threat before they finally agreed to give their subscribers ONE additional channel. LOL, unbelievable.

Unfortunately, I won't trust what Mallory said until TulsaCub comes back on here to say his order went through. I only recently spoke with my Cox Customer Service Rep and they said it is not available to order at this time, but hopefully soon.

I agree. I do hope he/she knew what they were talking about. Will let you know.

Yeah...I agree...we're not out of the woods yet...but I'm much more optimistic about it now than I was a month ago...it seems there is some pressure on MLB being generated, both by fans and the Govt...and with the Cable companies reportedly making an offer that is a financial equivalent....well, they may be hard pressed to piss that many people off.
