I've got Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne going, my opponent has Marvin Harrison. I'm up by 1 point, and I have cincy's defense as well. Should I sit the D, eliminating the risk of a negative point performance, and count on Chad and Reggie to outproduce Marvin on his own? Or do I hope to get a few cheap points out of the Cincy D?

The cincy defense is going to get shredded by the colts...Expect a shootout..Sit the D...You got 2 on 1 going, you should win as long as Harrison dosent pull out one of those 150 yd 2 TD's games

How often do defenses really bring in negative points? I'd start them.
Negative points are possible because there are deductions for things like giving up points. I got negative points from Grossman in one of my leagues a few weeks ago.

Yes, everyone knows negative points are possible, but the odds of the Cincy defense giving up the 40 or so points necessary to get negative points without getting any sacks, fumble recoveries, or picks are quite small.

I misread his question. I thought he said "how do," not "how often do."

In the standard yahoo scoring, a team gets -1 for giving up 28 or more, and -4 for giving up 35 or more-I could easily see the Cincy defense giving up 35 and only getting 1 turnover, which would give them a -2 overall. I would bench them.

Of course, the Colts defense might give up even more-but that's another discussion. :D

Went in leading by 1, got 14 out of Wayne, 3 out of Johnson, and -1 out of Cincy's D. Harrison put up 26. So it didn't matter.

Yeah, I'm out of the playoffs in one league because Peyton favored Harrison over Wayne this week

But I'm playing for the championship in four leagues next week, so I'm happy about that.
