What does CHONE stand for and how are the predictions calculated?

I don't think Chone stands for anything. Its creator's name is Chone Smith, I think.

Looks like it's some Angel fan blogger's internet handle.

I'd venture a guess that his name isn't Chone, but that he is an Angel fan.

I'd like to hold out hope that there is more than one Chone in the world. :D

Looks a lot like Detroit last year, and will probably require similarly dominating pitching to be a good team.

On the other hand, the NL is pretty weak. And I would probably expect a little more out of ARam and Murton.

I don't think it's that far fetched (nor would the pitching have to be that dominant) for this team to contend in the NL.

The pitching would have to dominate for that to be a 90 win team. If winning 82 games keep you in contention, then maybe they can get by with less than dominant performances on the mound.

Is this based on anything or is this guy just shooting from the hip? Please explain in 3 sentences or less. Thanks in advance.

Tough to tell, but it looks like he's shooting from the hip. His other posts are intriguing though, looks like he does a pretty good job.

To kill time I've been doing projections lately. Pretty similar, though I probably am biased towards the Cubs. I like Ramirez more than he does, Murton more than he does, and Fons a little more than he does. Other than that, we're pretty close.

Computer projections. Not as accurate as PECOTA (which is probably the best at projecting position players) but pretty good.
