What about Klesko for the bench?

We still need that lefthanded bat off the bench(not named Ward). A guy like Klesko could also get some starts in the OF as well. He claims that he is completely healthy again. He has a career .372 OBP and has had the power numbers in the past. Why not throw him a couple mil and see what you can get out of him. Maybe he can bounce back to the player he used to be.

i would say its almost a sure lock that soraino is in rf next year. 2b & cf seem to be out of the question and they want murton to get a shot in left. they just need to get rid of jones.

Seems to me the that the next bench guy would need to be able to play both corner infield spots.

I think we need another backup middle infielder more. Right now the team has one backup that can play both MI slots, one guy that can back up all the outfield spots, one guy that can back up the corner OF and first base, and a backup catcher. 3B is covered with our starting second baseman, but we still need a second backup middle infielder that can make sure that we have at least one left on the bench on the days when DeRosa plays 3rd. If we could get somebody that could back up 2nd, SS, and 3rd though, that would be very good.

The Cubs have DeRosa, Izturis, Theriot and Cedeno. You aren't going to get a backup MI who is worth a dime.

Cedeno and Theriot can both play SS or 2b. Cedeno doesn't belong on the big league roster at this point and would be better served playing everyday in AAA. But, he is still on the big league roster.
