Garland could get lit up in that park.

I thought the trade last night was bad for the White Sox, but this one doesn't make much sense either. Tavares is extremely overrated. He's basically Pods at a younger age and while I like Buchholz, he's not worth Garland.

This is a real head scratcher considering Garland was their best pitcher down the stretch last year. To me it sounds like the Sox are looking to make a move for a frontline pitcher.

This is strange in and of itself. I know the White Sox wanted to be players for ARod, but I had just assumed they would trade one of their starters and Crede. But now it seems that they've traded away the two most likely candidates in an ARod trade. Kenny Williams has to have something up his sleeves because, especially given the market, these are odd trades.

Ok, I'm getting pissed off here. Why don't WE trade for Garland??? We could beat an offer like that and we would land perhaps the best starter that is realistically on the market.

Can't believe the White Sox were about to trade a guy with 200+ innings and an above-average ERA+ the last three years, for considerably worse starter and a fast outfielder who has no pop and can't get on base enough.

I think they'd be pretty wise to deal Garland in this market. I don't think this reported deal makes much sense though.

If this trade falls through, Jim should be all over this. The White Sox are obviously drinking heavily in Orlando and the Cubs need to take advantage of it.

Buy them drinks Jim, buy them drinks!!!!

They would, but first they'd be wise to actually get something worthwhile in return. Seriously, you've got inferior pitchers like Lilly and Meche getting $10-11M per year contracts on the open market - Garland should fetch a lot. The rumored deal in this thread is an atrocious deal in ANY market, and especially this one.

Foxsports.com: Hendry won't be released from hospital until Friday.

who cares? if they're willing to trade Garland and they don't really understand his value, then make an offer from the hospital. Garland's not great, but he is solid and will eat up a lot of innings.
