what are the Mets going to trade for him??? They wanted Milledge and Heilman for Zito, and he was set to leave in 2 months. This is a guy who's as good as Zito and is younger and cheaper. I'd think the A's would demand a truckload in return.

Well, durability seems to be the most coveted attribute in pitchers this offseason, or at least the image of durability. Maybe the A's are sick of Harden's health issues and the Mets don't really care, and are willing to go nuts getting him.

really, for all the hemming and hawing about what a wuss prior is, you would think people here wouldn't value harden much.

or maybe his elbow really is dead (tjs has been mentioned in connection to him a number of times) and the a's are going to lose him while they still can.

The mets will probably have to start by offering pelfrey and milledge.

They can't trade Pelfrey until January 2007, since they only signed him earlier this year. So, this particular deal might not happen for another month at the very earliest.

ohhh I forgot it took Pelfrey so long to sign...I don't see they A's taking any less than that package though, and it could possibly take more.

Couldn't the Mets work a deal with Pittsburgh for Milledge only? Both teams get what they are looking for.

The more names like Penny, Duke, Jennings, Westbrook, Garcia/Vasquez, Lieber, Lackey, etc are thrown around by their own teams, or media speculation, in trade talks this winter the weaker the trade-market for pitching could become. I personally like seeing this, as enough of the marketing of pitching could water down the value of those out there to be had via trade.
