Nate Silver just ran Meche's PECOTA projection.

5.40 ERA

If the over/under on his ERA was 5.00 this year, I'd defininely take the over, especially pitching half his games in Kauffman.

Royals management fires back about the comment Ricciardi made towards Meche, especially Buddy Bell.

“(Ricciardi) is an interesting guy for all he’s done in the game,” Bell said. “He’s a little guy with a big mouth, and all he does is whine. And you can write that.

“That’s the kind of crap in this game that just drives me crazy. He knows nothing about our situation. You’ve got to be kidding me. Every time I hear this guy talk, all he’s doing is whining.”

Riccardi isn't the best ppl person. It doesn't surprise me that he rubbed someone wrong in a crowd filled with Type A personalities.

my friend the royals fan seems to be concerned over bell's "overuse" of their new investment.

gil meche pitch counts this year

103, 102, 91, 111, 111, 110, 118, 111, 109

Nothing terribly bad, more evidence of his good pitching than abuse.

It's not a great idea to have a pitcher with a significant injury history throwing 109+ pitches for 6 consecutive starts.

Why not 108+ or 110+? Actually Will Carrol and other people who speak on pitch counts think that the 105-115 area is the best amount to maximize the contribution of a starting pitcher - 120 is the bad mark.

Because if you look at the pitch counts his last 6 games have been 109 or higher.
