This means Hudson is likely staying put.

They'd be wise to blow that team up and go young. Their best players are pretty old. It was tough to try and rebuild in the middle of the streak, but now that it's over, they can more easily get away with a new look.

Details now in:

Mets agreed to terms with LHP Tom Glavine on a one-year contract with a player option for 2008.

Glavine will make $10.5 million next year. The player option kicks in at $6 million if he pitches 160 innings and can increase to $10 million at 200 innings. However, by the time that happens, both sides might be ready to tear the agreement apart and try something else, just like they did last season. Glavine confirmed Friday that the Braves never made an offer. However, he still considered waiting for them to do something. "I wrestled with it," Glavine said. "Everybody who knows me knows how important my family is."

They have three 'older' players, Smoltz, Chipper, and Wickman.

Only one year? My prediction is that he gets his 300th win and retires at the end of the season.

That's not too much of stretch, considering that Glavine has already stated that he will retired after reaching 300 wins. 2007 was already going to be Glavine's last season, so no stretch.

Is 10.5 million his age, the dollar amount of the contract, or both?

It cuts both ways...remember when Hank White's batting average was how many inches tall he was.

According to the New York Times and the Post, Tom Glavine's 2008 option starts at $9 million, rather than the $6 million reported Friday.

Glavine reportedly will get $9 million in 2008 if he pitches 160 innings next season, increasing to $13 million if he pitches 200 innings. The AP reported Friday that the values ranged from $6 million to $10 million. Included in Glavine's deal is a full no-trade clause. It's also believed he can opt out before 2008.
