Now that he is almost signed how will this affect Murton? they are also looking for another corner man so is Jones out or Murton? what about Pierre?

these have probably been answered on page >>>>>? but this signing muddles the pic or at least the phrasing on cubs.com has

pierre is gone. jones/murton is unanswered

Thank You, the language out of Cubdom is so mirky (merky) that I am afraid the lovable red-head will be sharing duties

It'll be refreshing to see someone else wearing that #12.

This thread is so long, I forget who mentioned it first. But I LOVE the idea of Jock plus a young pitcher (Sean Marshall?) to San Diego for Brian Giles. You can put him in RF, he'd be the ideal #2 hitter behind Soriano, my goodness what an excellent plan.

Then, when the Cubs trade Prior, Scott Moore and Izturis to Baltimore for Miggy Tejada, we will officially have the mostest kick-ass lineup in modern Cubs history. :-)

If we got Tejada thatd be the best lineup in all of baseball in the past many years... Soriano,Tejada,Lee,Rameriz

I'd still rather sign Roberts, or maybe trade for Crisp for CF, then trade JJ + stuff for a pitcher.

Apparently, Soriano passed his physical, he likes Chicago, negotiations went quickly, he hasn't spoken to Aramis yet who is flying up tomorrow for his press conference, and - oh yeah - sources tell Paul Sullivan that the Cubs may put Soriano in right and swap Jock to center.

The Cubs are in talks with Cliff Floyd, the nature of which Sullivan describes as 'heated'. Presumably, he'll platoon with Murton. Not sure if I am crazy about that idea.

Why the heck does Murton need a platoon? If there is anyone that needs a platoon partner its JJ. God our people are stupid!

Because he only hit 13 home runs. Who cares if he gets on base and whatnot?

Seriously. And besides, like 9 of those HR came in the second half, when the Cubs were already out of it. That guy is so not clutch.

Floyd is not a full time player, his injury history shows that. I'd prefer to see Murton get the majority of the playing time, but having Floyd as a 4th outfielder to spell Murton and Jones wouldn't be a bad option.

I'm assuming Soriano would play center if FLoyd was in for Jones.

Can someone post Soriano's career numbers at Wrigley? Im currious and not sure where to look for them. If the physical cleared and Aram is flying in tuesday for his own news conference why not just have them both at the same conference?

He has an OPS around 500, I believe, but it's only in something like 25 career AB's. He's only been there for 2 series.

Well, they could put DeRosa in for Jock against lefties and play Soriano in center and Theriot at second. This is where DeRosa's versatility could come in handy.

the only reason that doesn't bother me yet is that it's sullivan saying it. bruce would be another thing.

Look at the numbers he put up in the cemetary which is RFK...With Sorianos bat speed and power, I bet alot of pop ups will land in the bleachers on windy days..Hes teared it up at wrigley in his 2 visits..I could see him hitting over 50 HR's in wrigley..

Where did you get that? ESPN has him 2 for 13 in the 2003 series and 2 for 12 in the 2006 series.
