We trade Jones, Howry and Dempster for Burrell and Rowand.

We send Rowand to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia

We send Freddy Garcia, Mark Prior, Scott Moore and Sean Marshall to NY for Alex Rodriguez.

We end up with Burrell and Rodriguez

The White Sox end up with Rowand and free up a spot for McCarthy

The Yankees end up with 3 SP's and a potential 3B replacement.

Philly gets salary relief from Burrell's deal, a RF replacement who they could sell to their fans, and 2 relievers, one of whom is a "proven closer".

I think this is pretty darn fair on all sides. Everyone gets someone or something they want.

The nice thing about it is that you can do it in steps, and if it breaks down at any point you've still improved the team, PLUS if you accomplished the first step, the second step would almost certainly go down, and then all you have to do is assemble a package and see if NY bites. You clear dead salary (Jones, Howry, Dempster) and you add productive salary in ARod and Burrell, and you still have budget room left to make a FA signing or 2.

What happens to Murton then? Does he go to RF or becomes 4th outfielder? Or do you ask Burrell to play right?

You ask Burrell to play RF. I'm sure one of them can handle RF semi-good, and even if they're only passable RF's, your offensive output makes up for it.

How does that help Philly's salary situation other then taking on an extra guy? Wouldn't they be receiving about as much salary as they would be giving away in that scenario?

Burrell, I can assure you, would be a terrible RF.

Wrigley is notorious for having one of (if not the) hardest RF's to play in the NL. You can't just stick anyone over there.

What about Burrell in LF, and Murton in CF?

Even assuming ARod's available and willing to come to Chicago, with Prior's injury issues, I'm not sure that's enough for the NYY to give him up. There's a lot of potential there. But there's also a fair amount of risk that those 4 guys are essentially worthless on a team with a $200m payroll that demands to win now. I'd be surprised if that group nets ARod.

Yankees won't have any interest in Marshall and Moore, they don't play kids in NY unless injuries (eg, Wang) or complete lack of other options (eg, Cano) require them to.

I do think they'd like Garcia and Prior, Howry would be the guy they'd likely be most interested in as a third.

They can always sign Nomar for 3B once A-Rod leaves....

That's simply not true. The Yankees bring up kids all the time. The large number of millionaire players and veteran free agents gives the impression they won't play kids, but they do. And given their pitching situation, they won't have much choice but to give a kid a shot.

So..

Cubs trade: Jones, Howry, Dempster, Prior, Moore, Marshall

Cubs receive: Burrell, Rodriguez

Phillies trade: Burrell, Rowand

Phillies receive: Jones, Howry, Dempster

White Sox trade: Garcia

White Sox receive: Rowand

Yankees trade: Rodriguez

Yankees receive: Garcia, Prior, Moore, Marshall

Pretty much. The only guy I'd miss from that list is Prior, but I really think that this is pretty fair all around.

the person id least care about in that trade situation is Prior. He has little to no trade value. The person i would be more worried about getting rid of is Garcia is another legitamate starter for a team that has no pitching besides Z.

Garcia is an average starter that is way overpaid. We could sign Lilly or Padilla for less (in money per year) and probably get similar or better production. Prior has little trade value, which is why we SHOULDNT trade him. He's still young and could rebound. I don't want to give up on him so quick.

I'd do it, but I'd use Hill instead of Prior. He insures that the deal gets done, and we can keep the higher ceiling player. Granted, we'll have to toss Guzman or a mediocre FA into the mix until Prior is ready to go...

Shouldn't we ask the Yankees to include another player in the deal? ...Anyway, the real reason I posted a message, was to give you the fax number to Jim Hendry's Office. 1(773) 404-4111. I already sent him a four page wish list that included ARod and re-signing Aram. Fax him this trade proposal but isn't he in Florida all week? On another subject matter Pinktermite, what's wrong with our Hawkeyes?

ARod is the best player involved. We'd be giving up someone else's starter, Prior, Howry (expendable and redundant thanks to Wood) and Marshall, who might end up a #4 starter if all goes well.

There's no reason to ask for anything other than ARod back.

I dont think there is any chance that deal would work. First off I think that we would need more to get Burrell and Rowand. Secondly I think that the sox would want more than just Rowand to give us Garcia even though they want Rowand. Lastly Marshall over Prior is a better idea Prior has no trade value and the last part would work, but I dont think the first two will work. Just my opinion.

I would not touch Freddy Garcia,I am telling he will spend a lot of time on the Dl this year he was really pushing through something the last three months of the season and is overpaid. Who's your closer if you trade Howry and Dempster? Wood? I have no interest in leaving the closer role in Woods hand from spring training and thinking he'll stay healthy.

I think Michael Wuertz was mentioned as a possible closer.

Also, USSoccer would be trading Freddy Garcia to the Yankees. We wouldn't be keeping him.

And it's possible that Dempster could be a starter.
