I'm going to a college in a different district than the one I'm registered in. I know I could apply to change it - I even did about half of the paperweork to do so - but the election idiocy pretty much killed my motivation.

I don't care much for either congressional candidate, and I don't think we're in great hands regarding the senate race, either. The initiatives, though interesting, haven't convinced me one way or the other.

Frankly, I'm not "qualified," but not in the sense of being registered. I'm just indifferent to the competing opinions.

Of course I'm going to vote. I hate people that (can but) don't vote.

I know what you mean, but I hate people who don't vote because they have ignored the issues and have made no attempt to become educated.

I'm registered, hopefully the voting area for Muncie is reachable by bus.
call a local voter advocacy group and its very likely that they will try to arrange a ride for you...if there is no other way for you to get there...also, local parties will often give ppl registered with their parties rides to polling places

I'd rather they not vote if they didn't care to educate themselves. It's the people that don't educate themselves, but still vote, that drive me nuts.

I personally have no political opinion. I don't vote. I've never been a fan of politics. I probably won't vote until there is something I feel extraordinarily strong about. But, I also understand that by not voting, I have zero right to complain about ANYTHING. So you'll never hear me say one peep about anything. The day I find something to complain about, is the day I start voting.

i look at it this way, i have problems of my own to worry about. i have problems at home, problems at work, every day problems just like everyone else has. i just choose to spend my time worrying about the things i can actually change, rather than complain about the things i have little to no control over. that's just me, disagree if you want.

I completely support that you don't vote due to not caring about the issues.

But I actually disagree with the complaining part. Granted, it wouldn't make since to be saying in a couple months, "I can't believe so-and-so is in office; what a schmuck. Candidate whats-his-face was much better!" That boat, of course has sailed. But all citizens (non-voting registereds, non-voting minors, and voters, alike) have the right to "complain" and, more productively, voice their own ideas. I'm not voting this year, but my opinions won't take two years off.

(sorry to seem like I'm attacking you - not my intention at all. The no-vote=no-complaint argument is a pet peeve of mine :))

Roast is voting for the first time next tuesday. YAY.
good for you Roast, dont listen to anyone who tells you that there isnt a good reason to vote, or that anyone who doesnt vote has a right to complain...it is your responsibility as a citizen to inform yourself and vote your conscience, anything else is a cop out!

a "cop out" how? :)

Voting's great, really, don't get me wrong. But it has NO value to someone who's not concerned (though informed) about the issues at stake; that's all I'm saying.

No need to apologize. It's politics, and everyone has a different opinion. And it's not that I don't care about the issues. I'm actually pretty well informed about what's going on. It's just that I'd rather focus on things that I can do to directly help my situation right now.

It's just my opinion that if I wanted to complain about some issue that comes up, that I should be a voter to do so. If i felt strongly enough about something to complain, than I should vote to do what I can to change it. I won't criticize anyone for standing up and speaking out about something they feel isn't right. I just won't do it unless I'm a voter that's actually making a difference.

Always vote third party. Even if the candidate is insane. That way you can complain no matter which puppet wins the election.
