Prior has never pitched a full season.

He made 30 starts and threw 211 innings in 2003.

He was on the DL that year too. Which means he has never pitched in a full season without being hurt.

Plenty of people who aren't hurt throw less than 30 starts or 211 IP. It's really nitpicking to say he didn't pitch a full season.

So he was drafted in 2001 and he's kind-of pitched one full big league season. I think that qualifies as a big-time bust. Especially since it looks like he yet AGAIN won't pitch a full season in 2007. I know I'm ready to cut the cord with the guy.

Yes, we're aware you're willing to dump Prior. That's an unmistakably terrible idea, but it's not what I was addressing.

Couldn't agree more! Both Prior and Wood need to get out of Chicago and try to resurrect their careers elsewhere. Good Riddance!

He hasn't pitched in a full season without being hurt. IF he didnt get hurt in 03, then he would have pitched in a full season. He missed a month of baseball because of that injury.

Of course by a month, you mean, 2 starts.

That is about the dumbest thing I've read on here in a while. Prior was hurt in a freak accident and then pitched with a bad leg down the stretch, and pitched well.

It's petty.

I'm just saying he hasn't pitched in a full season.

As frustrated as many people are with Prior, it has been stated many times, you can't trade him while he has almost zero trade value. I can imagine the posts berating Hendry after he trades Prior and then goes on to have a Hall Of Fame career. You have to keep Prior and hope for a complete recovery or find a trade partner who is willing to give you value based on Prior's potential.

Or trade him for a player based on similar potential.

I don't know of any other players with similar potential that are going to be traded for Prior. They flat out don't exist.

There won't be an exact match, but if he's traded for any value now, it will likely be a situation where both teams are hoping on potential, whether it's prospect potential, return from injury potential, or something like that.

I too can't think of anyone who fits the bill, with the exception of listing minor leaguers or such.

One example could be a Prior for Gavin Floyd deal. Floyd has dissapointed in Philly and some wonder if he will ever do anything. Of course, he was highly touted at one time. Like Prior, he could regain what made others view him as so talented or he could never find it. It's a big risk.

Another example could be Oliver Perez. Is he as bad as he's been or can he be as good as he once was?

Those are just two off the top of my head.

None of those guys have a ceiling that even comes close to Prior's. If you're going to take a risk, take it on the guy with the highest ceiling.

I believe it was 3 starts, but your point still stands and I completely agree.
