Well, Gameday is gonna go to Columbia, South Carolina this week for some reason for Tennessee at South Carolina. Not sure if I understand why they're going there. South Carolina has a tendency to choke away big night games at home over the last several years. Plus they're unranked. I just wonder if maybe they would have come to Mizzou if Peterson were playing and/or we had beaten aTm.

If Mizzou had beaten aTm there is no way Gameday would have passed you guys up.

Yeah, it's depressing knowing Mizzou shoulda won that game. Maybe next year...

I'm still not understanding why they did. That's a significantly worse matchup, imo.

Spurrier vs. Tennessee is the bigger name matchup for the average fan.

Gameday likes the South. This makes 4 weeks in a row they've been to a southern campus and they started the season at Georgia Tech.

i bet purdont wins, probably on a hail mary or 75 yard field goal as time expires

No, an opening kickoff return for a TD ought to do it. The Lions couldn't score in a Singapore whore house

Purdue's defense is bad, even Penn State will be able to put up some points on them. But, Purdue has a good offense and PSU won't be able to shut them down the way they could shut down Northwestern or teams like that.

For the first time this year (finally) the local paper started questioning the team's play calling. As they put it "why buy a Ferrari if you don't take it out of the garage once in awhile." If you are so high on Morelli's ability to throw the ball 60 yards, quit throwing WR screens and HB swing routes. Oh, and don't run the ball up the middle 30 times a game.

Bush league standings:

1. Missouri

2. Colgate

3. Indiana State

4. Aurora

5. Bowling Green

6. Augustana

7. Temple

8. Northwestern

9. Illinois

10. Missouri State

What the hell is this supposed to even mean? What's with the Missouri hate, by the way?

It was just a joke. I knew you guys would take it to the extreme.

I didn't get the joke either...

Apparently it wasn't a very good one.

yeah... what time is the game? I'm probably just going to sleep through it - I am not in the mood to watch Penn State lose this week.

Im sure this saturday will be pretty exciting for you Missouri fans, but other than this is a pretty ho-hum saturday. PSU/PU is best B10 game on the block, that will be a competitive one.

I think it's noon on ABC

Yeah I'm excited. People around here are saying it's the biggest game for Mizzou in 25 years, just based on Oklahoma being Oklahoma and Missouri sucking for most of the past 25 years. Hopefully we get close to a sellout. I wanna see a lot of gold out there Saturday. Only thing I'm pissed about is the 11 a.m. start. I hate these early games. We always get screwed with em. Oh well, go Tigers!

Oh yeah, I'm definitely sleeping through it then - I don't get done work til around 8:00 on Saturday morning. I can wake up at 4:00 and find out how much PSU lost by, and how many INTs Morelli threw... good times!

Is anyone from Illinois a UI fan?

Growing up, the only people I knew who were Illinois fans were the people who went to Illinois, or had relatives that went there. And there wasn't a single athlete who dreamed of going there. It was a fallback if they weren't recruited elsewhere. There was no built in support the locals kind of thing like you see in Iowa or Michigan, or many other places.

Not football, but I know a ton of bball fans. I don't think the midwest has strong state college ties to be honest. I know Wisconsin fans in Chicago, Michigan fans in Wisconsin, Ohio State fans in Indiana, etc.

Next week's Mizzou-Nebraska matchup is either at 11 AM or 7 PM. I think that means that if both teams win this week Gameday is heading to Lincoln. Either way though, not playing at 11 AM would be nice.

I'd prefer the 7:00 game, as my girlfriend and I are going down to Lincoln for the game.

How are Michigan and USC ranked ahead of OSU in those polls!? That just befuddles me.

SoS maybe, i dont know. Both UM and OSU beat similar top teams in ND and Texas. UM and OSU have basically played the same opponents except Michigan might have the edge because they played and beat Wisc.

It's all based on Strength of Schedule. USC has Arkansas and Nebraska helping them out a great deal, plus their worst games are their bottom Pac 10 opponents, which are still usually rated higher than most teams non-conference schedules (their entire non conference schedule is Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame-of course Notre Dame doesn't factor in to their schedule so far).

Ohio State though has one great opponent so far-Texas. Other than that, Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan State all have at least 3 losses, and they have Northern Illinois, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, and Indiana. Ohio State's schedule has not really been all that hard.

Michigan is ahead of OSU for one basic reason-they both have played one great opponent (OSU-Texas, Michigan-Notre Dame), they both have several common games (Iowa, PSU, Michigan State), similar other non-conference games (OSU-Cincy, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Michigan-Vanderbilt, Central Michigan). So it basically comes down to their other conference games-and Michigan leads by having played Wisconsin.

ND shouldn't be considered a great opponent.

They are as much as Texas-definitely in the computer's SOS model, ND has 1 loss, Texas has 1 loss, ND has the harder schedule of the two.

Plus, just because a team has a great deal of close games where they had to pull it out in the end doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad team. It's a warning sign, but not necessarily true. OSU in 2002 under that definition would be considered a bad team, but they won the national title (they had 6 games decided by 6 points or less, and at least 2 of those probably should have lost, similar to ND). Plus, every 1 loss team has had a scare or two-ND should be put at about the same level as all the other 1 loss teams who have played pretty good schedules.
