San Francisco Chronicle:

Can't imagine the A's hiring process continuing without Billy Beane at least considering the best man for the job, Dusty Baker. He's headstrong, and likes to take complete charge of a club (with good reason), but he's exceptionally easygoing, having survived prostate cancer, Steve Bartman and the Chicago media with his health and dignity intact

Is there anyway that Dusty goes Moneyball or Bean would actually do this?

That writer should be ashamed of himself if he saw Baker up close as a San Francisco manager. I bet anyone $100 bucks that Beane doesn't hire him. Can you image Baker telling his players not to clog up the bases?

i looked at Baker on the fancy picture box last night.

he's a nice man with funny looking fake broad shoulders.

I'll be absolutely shocked if Baker gets the A's job. Baker and Beane are as philosophically mismatched as any two baseball men who ever lived.

Anyone else think Beane fired Macha because he wanted to keep Ron Washington from going to Texas?

That's kind of the sense I got. I figured when he did that, it was only a matter of time before he hired Washington.

everything ive heard indicates that macha was really pissed about the way he was treated last offseason (being fired due to his unwillingness to accept the small salary he was offered, eventually having no choice to come crawling back) and that he was just a jerk to most of the players this year.

the thought of ron washington mightve made the decision even easier, but i really think macha was gone unless the a's won the whole thing.

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD

more like dummyball

If this really happened Tree I'd buy you a beer, many if you wish.

i would love to see this happen, if for no other reason, than to see dusty have to adhere to a different philosophy, and beane would make sure that he did.

Wasn't it the great Paula Abdul that once sang in her smashing hit, Opposites attract?
