Team baseball is when players are willing to sacrafice their self to move a runner over. Hitting the ball to the right side with a runner on 2b is a good example. Bunting, sac flys, and hit and runs are some more examples.

Team baseball is simple. Its a supernatural ability possessed by only a few players (think Jeter) that can "send" their abilities to other players in key situations, like when someone else is on the team is up with the game on the line. Derek Jeter sends his aura and mystique to the player - making them better.

It's those awesome intangibles.

Baseball is a game of individual efforts and struggles that leads to a team result.

As in, it is mostly individual matchups that decide the game, but in the end the sum of those leads to a team winning or losing.

Team baseball is when one player struggles and another teammate picks him up and makes a play or plays to help win the game. It can be a pitcher getting K after a fielder makes an error, a HR, a bunt, a good relay play, blocked ball in the dirt or a variety of things. They don't have to get along outside of the game but when they are on the field together they do what they have to do to win the game.

Funny how teams that lose don't play good "team baseball". It's all about winning, folks...if you don't, you are not a "team"...if you do, you get all the Bull Durham stupid quotes about how it's "all about the team".

Would Jeter be as good a "team" player if he played for the Cubs? I dare say not...

I was talking about good team baseball and yes, the byproduct is winning.

Or winning.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Whatever a good team does is called Team Baseball.

In my mind, Team Baseball means having a bunch of god players on the roster...but what do I know?

Team baseball is an after the fact way of describing a team that won used by lazy sportswriters and experts. If you use up outs moving runners over, and lose, then people will just blame the lack of clutchness of the players coming up next, or, perhaps, the increased clutchiness of the team on defense that benefitted from the team giving away outs.

Team Baseball: All or most of the players making some sort of positive contribution to a winning effort.

Evidently, if Albert Pujols hits three HRs it's not as good as David Eckstein laying down 3 perfect squeeze bunts because Eckstein gave himself up for the team whereas Pujols is just a glory hound that should have hit sac flies instead.
