Wouldn't it be funny if we beat KU on Wednesday and end up ranked. I'm not counting on it, but it'd be nice. UT/aTm will be fun to watch tonight. Hook em'!

you beat texas at texas. and you beat us at lawrence last year. I'm worried about the game.

you should be more worried about your trip to columbia on saturday.

okay, i'm lying. i'm expecting you guys to finally get a win in the new arena, and i bet it will be by at least 15.

i AM worried. we could feasibly lose 3 games in a row here.

So is anyone else excited about the UNC-Duke game this wednesday, or do you guys all consider that to be kinda like Yankees-Red Sox?

Cause I'm pumped. These games are ALWAYS high-emotion type things, and they tend to be good games, even when the teams are mismatched (prior to 2005, Duke was the dominant team for a few years, but Carolina almost always managed to keep it close, even when they had no business doing so).

Duke's coming off back-to-back losses, and stand to lose three in a row for the first time since 99-00, and Carolina just suffered an embarrassing defeat at NC State. Both teams should be out for blood.

Northern Iowa and Syracuse go a long way towards bursting their bubbles with losses to Indiana St. and UConn respectively.

We don't deserve to go to the NCAA's unless Boeheim makes some changes because this team is just above average right now. Ever since Roberts hurt his knee it's been a free fall downward. Add to that Watkins never being consistant and most of the time below average and Harris not really having a role and this team is a mess. Oh, plus Wright is not a good fit at point guard for this team and you have a bunch of square pegs trying to fit into circles.

(and seeing how the committee likes to give us the screw if we're on the bubble, it may very well work that way)

well at least you prove the committee wrong by losing home NIT games to Holy Cross!!!

Oh, brother. When was the last time a team that got the shaft from the tourney won that joke of a "tournament"? ND played freshmen that game that hadn't played all season, shows you how important it was.

Funny, cause from looking at the box score of that game, it looks like Notre Dame's two best players were in the game for 40 minutes, and two of their other regular starters played 35 and 23 minutes. In fact, I looked really carefully, but the only guy who got a lot more playing time than usual was this fellow Kurz, and he got into 14 games that year.

Darn that internet, with all its "facts" and stuff.

I don't know what you're talking about. We'll probably dominate that game, and then get punked by Baylor and Colorado in our building over the next couple weeks. Inconsistency is mind bending.

Darn that NIT, with all its meaninglessness and stuff. I take about as much stock in the NIT as I do college bowl games that aren't the national title, which is zero.

Maybe, but ND certainly was trying to win that game, and they lost at home. Unfortunately, a team like Holy Cross will never get a home NIT game, because our Hart Center holds a max of about 4000 people.

So make the NCAAs and scare the crap out of Kansas or Kentucky again

That's a good point, but since we played so well at KU, and now people expect us to beat them at home every year, I have a feeling we are going to get trounced.

Mizzou up by 3 at Iowa State right now...let's see how they meltdown tonight.

Not cool. I'm following on Gametracker at work and didn't notice the time when you made that post.

Unless ESPN is lying to me, Mizzou is up 12 at the under-12 timeout. It was about this time that they blew a similar lead against ISU in their last meeting.

Up 9 now with 9 to go. Kalen Grimes has looked outstanding tonight.

Penn State hosts Wisconsin tonight. This won't end well

Boeheim said when Penn State joined the Big 10 that "Penn State will NEVER win the Big 10". He was pretty pissed they left and didn't join the Big East.

Penn State would never win the Big East either. Hell, they'd be the third best team in the Patriot League.

True but I think they would have had a better chance staying in the east recruiting basketball wise. Football, not so much.

Penn State wasn't even hacking it in the A-10.

Notre Dame is #1!*

* - I wish I cared about college hockey

In other news, we're seeded 9th in Bracketology, in the same pod as Florida. That's just great.

If you are gonna win it you got to beat a great team or two at some point. Why not right away?

USC-UCLA also on Wednesday. And, you know, USC is probably better than Duke.

Probably true, although the margin is slim. At the same time, even though Carolina is favored significantly, I'm still terrified of this game. Duke will be playing its absolute best, due not only to the rivalry, but also to the fact that they're coming off two last-second losses to unranked teams - and they'll be at Cameron, which is a pretty huge advantage, especially against this young UNC team (we've played our worst games on the road this year). Maybe it's just that I've lived the rivalry for my whole life, but these games always seem to be closer than they should be, and upsets abound (see UNC-Duke at Cameron last year).
