Don Zimmer as Bench coach?

Let's say that Girardi gets the Cubs job, wouldn't be interesting if he talked Popeye into joining his staff? Any thoughts on the matter?

I don't see much value in this. Zim is a cartoon. I can't see him helping Girardi at all at this point. I could see Torre being of help, given his relationship with Joe and managerial experience. Maybe he'd want to relax for a year watching from afar while collecting his $7m from George. But Zim? No thanks. The Cubs don't need managers making gut decisions and hoping it works out. They need to focus on getting better players and putting them in the best possible situation to succeed.

Pursuing that would be a negligent waste of time by Hendry. I wouldn't find it interesting, entertaining, valuable, cute, honorable, or anything other than stupid and unnecessary.

Relax y'all, certainly the first priority is inproving the Cubs as a team. I was just curious as to what you thought if Girardi approached him about coming back, that's all.

I know Mike Quade, Alan Dunn, Pat Listach, and perhaps guys like Von Joshua will be giving opportunities for openings on Girardi's staff, but do we even have a sniff of a posible Girardi staff?
