Just a head's up... I figured a few people might be interested in giving this a listen

He's joining me tonight on my radio show for 10-15 minutes of Cubs talk.

His segment will start around 6:45 Eastern

You can catch it online at http://www.wiux.org - Indiana University Student Radio

Feel free to drop some question ideas!

Thanks

ETA by Serena to add:

Good show! You have a good broadcasting voice, Irish O'Shea!

You can download the interview as an mp3 file or listen to it here:

It's a little over 12 minutes. The audio clip starts about 30 seconds into the interview while Bruce is summing up the Dusty Baker era. The audio get choppy occasionally -- sounds like the phone was cutting out a few times -- but the majority of it is clear.

Thanks for the notice! I edited the header so people will know it's coming up tonight.

On the Cubs managerial vacancy, I'd be interested on his impression as to whether the Hendry is seriously considering any candidates beyond the "Big Three" (Brenly, Girardi, Piniella). For instance, Manny Acta, Mets 3B coach, has been mentioned as a possibility in the past. Thanks!

Man...I'm going to miss it. My nephew has a football game.

Either way, congrats!

My mouth has a beer game, I'm going to miss it.

Mine too. Creepy.

question idea for da Bruce:

Ramirez has said he's waiting to see who the new manager will be and it will factor into his decision to opt for free agency. What manager hire gives us the best chance of keeping Aramis Ramirez?

George Washington, about 15 million of them per year, gives the Cubs the best chance of keeping Aramis.

Ask him to give an NSBB shoutout! And then ask him what his favorite forum is on NSBB :)

and who his favorite poster is?

I don't doubt dollars is far more important than the manager. he's playing hard to get.

Will the Cubs go that high?

Don't know. Both sides might settle at $13.5 million plus incentives, e.g. groundballs run out. :D

not a good incentive - that would cause him to try and hit more groundballs! I think if he posted an .850 hustle average or greater that would deserve a bonus. or perhaps if he finished top ten in intangible efficiency.

$15m huh. I was hoping earlier in the year they could settle on $12-13m, possibly touching $15 in the 4th or 5th year. But I always thought it was the guaranteed years that were the biggest issue.

The Cubs seem to have a hangup about guaranteeing years, do you think there's any chance the departure of Andy will change this philosophy.

They do that in Japan! Maybe the Cubs should get a clause limiting computer time for Zambrano.

15 million? I'd rather not pay Ramirez more than what Lee is getting, cause he's not worth it.

What does it matter what Lee is getting?

Ramirez has been more productive than Lee for most of the time the two have been here.

Supposedly we're into winning now that MacDonough is here. Letting Ramirez walk b/c he want another couple mil a year isn't the best PR move.

Personally, I don't care that the Cobs spend more $ on Ramirez than he's worth. We do that with everyone. It just happens that this time the player is actually good instead of a veteran scrub.

* Thanks for answering my question, Sr. Miles. :D

Yepper. Hendry can overspend by millions on guys like Alfonseca, Rusch and Perez, he can overspend a couple million on somebody who will actually help the team.

Can he? He's never proven that to be the case...

Well, I'm saying I'll allow it, not that he's mentally capable. :D

Not to mention he's younger.
