...the season is over, the suffering ends, and the offseason begins (for the Cubs, early as usual). Does anyone else feel like they just finished a test, running a race, or mowing a lawn?

Time for the "fresh start," the hope, the changes for the next season.

It's good to be a Cub fan.

Sadly, the offseason is generally the best season for the cubs fan.

We can pretend we're going to acquire the top free agents, make blockbuster deals, and set ourselves up as front runners for the world series.

I know I get an immense satisfaction speculating and armchair GMing this time of year.

I'm glad this bizarre season is OVER, but I feel fine admitting that I miss cubs baseball this time of year, regardless of how they did. I look forward to hearing about Cubs news in the offseason. It'll be a good one this year!

The torture is over.

No this is just the end of one chapter of torturing.

The book aint over either, its the beginning of a whole new chapter.

Can't you let me live in my dream world for a little while? :D

Now that the regular season is over, I can't wait for the playoffs to be over to put closure to baseball 2006. This season was brutal, but not as bad as 2005 for me. At least the wsox and stros didn't make the playoffs and I'm guaranteed that the wsox won't win the world series this year. Nothing was as bad as 2005 for me, but 2006 comes a pretty close second.

Maybe that's a trend, maybe I'm grasping at straws.

I don't care anymore. I'm burned out on baseball.

Bye bye baseball season (although I'll still follow postseason). I have more than usual to be optimistic about football, since my two favorite teams (Bears and Colts, in that order) could well meet in the Super Bowl and my third favorite team (Panthers) are on the upswing now with Steve Smith back (they should be 3-1 if not for the stupid 4th down call against the Vikings).
