Thanks for all of the help Hosak, dinner is definitely on me. I can give you my contact information if you'd like to pass it on or I can call them to talk about the site. Either way is cool. I totally forgot your connections within the organization and should've already contacted you.

From this article it looks like the Jaxx will be AA Arizona or San Diego in 2007.

DJAXX, you should know better than to trust anything the Jackson Sun has to say.. lol

ha ha, good point. I wasn't sure if the Sun would even give mention of the affiliation change.

Here's the official announcement from the Cubs:

The Chicago Cubs today announced a two-year player development contract with the Tennessee Smokies (AA) of the Southern League. The contract was announced this afternoon at Smokies Park in Sevierville, Tennessee.

"The Chicago Cubs are honored to be part of a first class organization like the one here in the East Tennessee Community," said Oneri Fleita, Director of Player Development and Latin American Operations. "We look forward to a long affiliation with the Tennessee Smokies".

The contract ended the Cubs’ partnership with the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the club had been a Cubs affiliate since 1998. The Smokies have been affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the last two years.

Let me get this straight. Jackson moves to TN, TN moves to, let's say, Jackson, Mobile moves to San Antonio, and San Antonio moves to Moble. Are those the only double A teams in the entire US that are looking for a home?

Jackson moving to TN is the only thing we know for sure at this point. The other three teams will play musical chairs.

Is that the way you see it?

Jackson is already in Tennessee

If you guys want highlights next season for most all of the home games, let me know. I work for the ABC affiliate in Knoxville and could probably get them to go along with this. I know our sports photog shoots almost every home game that the Smokes play.

So, you work for WATE, huh? I think you and I should definitely catch some Smokies games together next year!

So, the Diamond Jaxx may become an affiliate of the Diamondbacks? Fitting.

I'll do whatever I need to do, Jaxx. I'm all ears. Kirchhofer is definitely interested in exploring the possibilities. I think Tom Hart (radio voice of the Smokies) might also like to hear some of this. You can email them on the Smokies website, and they get back to you rather quickly. Those you will be looking for are: Doug Kirchhofer (President), Brian Cox (GM) and Tom Hart (Radio). let me know what I need to do here...

Hmm. That would be uber-cool. Wonder if this community would support a tracker of solely legal videos? Might have to look into that.

Okay, let me put this where you can understand it. Jackson (West TN Djaxx) moves to TN, (Tennessee Smokies). TN (Tennessee Smokies) moves to, let's say, Jackson (West TN Djaxx). I just thought that people would understand what I was talking about without having to spell out every little detail. Sorry.

He knew exactly what you were talking about; that's what his lol smiley was indicating.

The Mariners seem like they are on the way out from San Antonio. So I guess they'll either wind up in Mobile or West Tenn. According to the news around San Antonio the Diamondbacks and Padres are fighting for the Missions in an effort to move closer to the west coast.

The loser will then go with the Mariners for Mobile or West Tenn. If the Diamondbacks get San Antonio, then I guess it's Padres in West Tenn and Mobile for the Mariners.

If West Tenn doesn't watch out, in a couple years they could be bought out and moved back to El Paso who used to be the Double A affiliate for the Diamondbacks in the Texas League. The Cardinals bought them and moved them to Springfield a couple years ago. Now the Diablos are a Independent League team, but I would not be shocked if one of the three west coast teams who are affiliate-less would want to expand to El Paso. I could also see a Double A team pop up in eastern La. as well in the next few years, say Shreveport or Lake Charles. I also wouldn't be shocked if the Astros decided to move their Double A team to near Houston to like Galveston (kind of like Frisco and the Rangers).

I'll talk to our main sports guy as well as the GM and see what they think. I'd just need to find a video encoder to put them up and send them to an admin here.

Well, the Smokies will still come play the Braves in Mississippi, so I'll get to see them all the same. I did think the Jaxx logo and colors were better though.

I've got a Smokies logo concept designed, but not sure how to share it with you guys. Similar to the script Smokies that currently appears on the jersey now, but the O is actually a Smoky Bear Cub in a red circle... similar to the old 80's cubbie design. The hat logo is nearly identical to the old Smokies TS, but I've modified the font slightly, and added the cubby bear logo.

Funny how the Tennessee Smokies could be named after the mountains OR after the native Smoky Bear, which has Cubs of its own. The possibilities are endless.

If someone can help me share it with you guys, I will gladly do so.

I'm confused...

I assume all of the DJaxx players the Cubs wish to keep will be on the Smokies next year, right? Then what happens to all the Smokies players? I assume they'll all get moved somewhere, correct?

The players associated with the Major league organization go wherever that teams minor league affiliate is. So cubs minor leaguers at the AA level will play for the smokies.
